I found their quality+quantity=cost to be fair. Especially for their buffet that is everyday except Saturday from 11;00-15:00.

I found the food to be tasty & decently authentic. The spices & flavors are great. Loved many of their dishes & the atmosphere for dine-in.

I would like to see more of their culture desserts available for buffet, as well as more items from the menu available on buffet also. That's my reason I gave them a 4 star.

I did find it odd, no other East Indian individuals or families ever came anytime I visited... Which did make me wonder why...

This is a great place to try delicious Indian food just out of Calgary. We went there as a big group, so had the opportunity to try quite a few dishes and most of them tasted amazing. Loved the momos (both tandoori and steamed) that we ordered as starters. Paneer pakora was a bit disappointing and tasted bland. Garlic naan was very tasty and Lamb Rarajosh stole the show. It was scrumptious and full of flavour. It would be a highly recommended one if someone is looking for a non-vegetarian dish. Overall, it was a great first experience.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet (all you can eat) for only $15 special in January. The service was great - the waiter kept bringing unlimited naan bread. The music was nice too. I highly recommend this restaurant, and also because of this beautiful sign they have on the door. They must be kind, good-hearted people so I hope their restaurant will be blessed and very successful.

He offered assistance with our selections, ensuring we chose dishes that met our tastes and time constraints. Jag’s passion for his restaurant is evident in his personalized service, making the dining experience memorable.

HEALTH-CONSCIOUS DINING

Mehtab East Indian Cuisine utilizes ORGANIC spices, food WITHOUT MSG, NO artificial flavors, NO preservatives, and NO trans fats. Their focus on health conscious and high quality ingredients provides a great option for those with dietary concerns. The staff is attentive to any food allergies, and prices are very reasonable.

MENU SELECTION

The menu offers a wide selection of appetizers, clay oven specialties, vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, various rice options, and a variety of naan breads. We opted for three takeout items:

1. Baigan Bharta: Roasted eggplant puree with green peas, tomatoes, ginger, and coriander.

2. Mix Masala Vegetables: Seasonal vegetables cooked in exotic spices and topped with fresh coriander.

3. Naan Bread: Warm, soft naan that perfectly complemented our dishes.

While the food was spicier than we're accustomed to, it was flavorful, with generous portions. (Photos of our visit and food selections are included in this review.)

Mehtab East Indian Cuisine is not just a restaurant but a community contributor. Jag hosted a fundraiser to support Shelly Adams in her fight against MS, a cause featured in the recent September 2024 issue of the Cochrane Eagle. Their involvement in such initiatives demonstrates their commitment to giving back to the community.

CATERING SERVICES

In addition to their dine-in and takeout services, Mehtab also offers buffet catering for large events, accommodating groups of 100 to 500 people with advance notice.

I brought my family for dinner, and both the food and service were amazing! We ordered butter naan, three butter chickens, okra, saffron rice, and more. Everything was just incredible. Even my little girl, who usually doesn’t eat much at home, said she’d eat every time if we brought her here, and I told her, "Sure, why not!" 😀 We highly recommend everyone give this place a try.

We love coming out to Cochrane for a meal at Mehtab. It's a shirt drive out from NW Calgary and a lovely outing. Their food is consistently delicious. We love coming for the buffet so we can enjoy multiple dishes. The staff are lovely always.
