Le Bear Coves Inn est une très belle auberge, grandes chambres, très propre et paisible et prêt de toutes attractions principales: baleines, macareux et autres oiseaux, tour de bateau, belles plages pour de longues marche et plus. Un bon déjeûner copieux est servi le matin. L'auberge est à quelques minutes du bord de la mer dans une belle baie tranquille, Witless Bay. On peut y prendre de longues marche. Le propriétaire Clayton et sa copine sont très sympathique, lui il parle Anglais et sa copine parle Anglais et Français, elle est originaire du Québec. Tout y est, frigidaire au rez-de-chaussée avec congélateur et même de la glace. Accès à un micro-onde. Joli foyer extérieur pour les journées plus fraîches. Avoir su, nous aurions réservé une nuit de plus le soir avant notre vol de retour, c'est à moins de 45 minutes de l'aéroport de St-Johns et plus paisible qu'en ville. Clayton possède aussi un beau restaurant et pub à quelques minutes de l'auberge, à Bay Bulls. Nous avons été chanceux le lendemain matin, la dame nous a informée qu'il y avait un groupe pour la sauvegarde des macareux, il soignent les jeunes macareux abandonnés ou blessés, et à maturité ils les relâchent, le groupe prend l'empreinte et mensurations de l'oiseau pour les enregistrés, et invite du monde à relâcher les oiseaux, et mon épouse a eût la chance de prendre et relâcher un jeune macareux, c'est une belle expérience.

Très joli hôtel avec très bon accueil. Les chambres sont confortables, très propre. Petit salon mis à disposition, on se sent comme à la maison. Petit déjeuner excellent préparé par le propriétaire très sympathique. L'endroit est reculé et loin des quelques restaurants environnants, mais cela a justement son charme. Possibilité de faire de très beaux trails (East Coast Trail), le propriétaire nous y a gentiment déposé afin que nous n'ayons pas besoin de faire l'aller-retour. Nous recommendons le Bears Cove Inn!

Leider sind wir total enttäuscht worden. Als wir abends ankamen (es war niemand da, lag nur ein Zettel bereit), waren alle Heizungen aus und dadurch sehr kalt. Das Zimmer konnten wir bissel aufheizen, der Aufenthaltsraum für das Frühstück blieb kalt. Wir sind vorzeitig abgereist.

While it was a beautiful place, we did not enjoy our stay. We were the only ones in the house. It was contactless entry, and the host did not stay on the site. The stay was supposed to have breakfast, but it was not a great breakfast based on what we paid. Some cereal and milk. Instant porridge. Coffee and tea. I loaf bread, a toaster. It was a very lonely, creepy stay and we were glad we were only staying one night. I think the place is better suited for rental to a group of people, or at least two couples.

Our group of 12 people was just perfect! Honestly everything you need is already there for your stay outside of your meals and beverages. As a group we all had our own rooms and bathrooms with very comfy beds. The grounds are beautiful, the hot tub spa room exceeded our expectations, so clean with lots of towels. The kitchen has everything for cooking all meals, plenty of plates, glasses, cups and utensils. Ice provided in the freezer which I thought was excellent too. The house is beautiful and so cozy with plenty of room. The East Coast trail is so close and the rocky beach is across the street. I would recommend Bear’s Cove Inn 100% to anyone. We thank Kendra whom I might add is very easy to reach by phone and is very pleasant.

We will definitely return as a group

We booked with our friends, when we arrived our door was unlocked with the key on the night stand, we never seen a soul the whole time! My boyfriend had to make his own coffee in the morning and there was no breakfast! Best part of staying at a B & B is the fresh smell of bacon when you open your eyes! $ 175.00 a night and no breakfast is included I received a text from the owner who reminded me of my check out time at 11, I told her we were waiting on breakfast in the dining room she replied, there is dry cereal and bread there! When I read the reviews a lot of other people said they received a full breakfast complete with fruits and all!! Also noted on a couple websites that breakfast is included because hey it is a bread and breakfast after all!! Nonetheless we likely will not be back!

The Bears Cove Inn is a clean and reasonably modern B&B in Witless Bay. That said, it is quite basic and does not offer any face-to-face interaction with its owner. Although we counted 6 rooms, we never saw a soul. Our room lacked a hairdryer, air conditioning (it was 28 degrees), was equipped with 1-ply toilet paper, and only had one chair on our balcony. We were allowed the use of the barbecue, and a massive hot tub was available should we have wanted it, but both were DIY. Despite being in a small town, the off-road vehicles roared by until well after midnight. The following morning we poked around the large dining room for breakfast, which was a choice of cold cereal or oatmeal, toast & jam, the or coffee (which we could have made in a commercial Bunn machine), a couple of bananas and two individual packets of trail mix. Not sure the procedure for dishes, we washed and dried ours and put them back where we found them. If you are happy being self-sufficient, the Bears Cove could work for you, but our preference is to have some face time with the owner to help make our trip even better.

The Bears Cove Inn is a quiet, comfy little bnb tucked away in a great neighborhood. We were in the middle of the East Coast Trail and wanted a spot with a hot shower and comfy bed. This place was it. It was clean and well kept and the owner Clayton went out of his way to provide us with extra luxuries. If you are looking for fantastic eggs and a gorgeous breakfast, look no further. Christine is your woman and she’s the one making them!! A very special thanks to this gal. She went WAY out of her way to help us out with further accommodations along our hike. She is truly wonderful and an absolute asset to the Bears Cove Inn!!
