Made the long journey to Hay River to attend a Family Wedding. ||Booked 3 nights. Reservation was signed by both parties.||We had the unfortunate event of locking our hotel keys in our car. Called owner who proceeded to tell us that there was absolutely no way she would be coming to let us in to our room. No. Way. ||She left 2 - 50 year old Women out on the street at 3AM. We had no wallet as it was also locked in the car. There was no taxi service available in Hay River at that time, just an answering service that no one answered.||Our bill came. We were charged $300 dollars MORE than our contract! She upgraded our room without consent or conversation. When confronted, wrote me a 5 paragraph email about how that was my fault for not knowing by site that this wasn't the room I had booked. There was never a conversation or updated written booking about any such upgrade.||This was the worst Northern experience I've ever had. The Owner was narcissistic, rude and careless. ||She was happy to leave us out on the street to fend for ourselves. ||In hospitality, this happens. Room keys get lost or become de -magnatized. Her only comment was she would be back the next day at the hotel. She couldn't have lived more than 5 minutes from the hotel. And she couldn't be bothered to help us. As a business owner, I can't imagine treating any human like this.||Awful.|

Cambridge Suites are actual apartments complete with kitchen essentials. Well appointed suites, comfortable, clean and much nicer than a typical hotel room in Hay River, based on my experience. My suite had river facing views and lots of greenery - gorgeous. Also had a balcony and chairs. ||I was fortunate to get a room, as most were booked. From what I understand, the place gets booked up fast - so book in advance.||My trip was much improved once I moved to Cambridge Suites.

Traveled to Hay River for a wedding just out of town.

Had the very unfortunate event of locking our hotel keys in our car. This was difficult as things shut down in Hay River at night and on a holiday long weekend. We couldn't access a taxi as the service was closed.

We called the owner who informed us she would NOT be coming to help us and that there was no way for us to get into the hotel. No. Way.

She left 2, 50 year old Women out on the street. It was cruel. She couldn't have lived far from the hotel, probably no more than 5 minutes of bother; but she couldn't be bothered to help us.

As a business owner, I cannot imagine treating any human being the way she treated us that night.

Then there was the bill - $850 for 3 nights stay (2 if I'm technical). She charged me 250$ more than the rate we had agreed upon in writing in the reservation receipt claiming our room was upgraded and we somehow should have know that. No conversation, no contract, no agreement.

When questioned, sent me a scathing, unapologetic, 5 paragraph email as to how all of this was our fault.

What an absolutely awful Northern experience.

How disappointing.

My colleague and I needed a place to stay for the night and work, so we needed somewhere that had the space and our own rooms. The Cambridge was it! We stayed in a suite on the 4th floor and found it very comfortable, meeting all our needs. The balcony overlooking the Hay River was a nice treat as well. The location is within walking distance to stores and coffee joints. We ended up working longer the morning of check out and stayed an hour past, with no issues at all from housekeeping or management. The room was very clean, making it for a very comfortable stay. I will definitely stay there again, for work or pleasure!

The hotel is nicely furnished, roomy and close to stores downtown, mind you Hay River is not that big anyways. The balcony is perfect overlooking the river. Very nice and quiet. No reception available after office hours, help yourself style based on trust by the establishments to the guests. ||||The rooms looks clean in the optics but actually need a lot of cleaning. Bathtubs are not scrubbed properly..hardened dirt on the wall and shelf of the tub can still be removed but not being cleaned. The kitchen needs proper kitchen utensils and pots and pans. Some of them were stored in the cabinets not even washed. There is a dishwasher in the room I stayed but its not working. The bedrooms were not properly cleaned. You will still see empty bottles of water under the bed and some dirty socks. The locks in the rooms must be replaced and needs another lock or hook for privacy and safety. Internet in 3rd floor doesn't work, you have to go to 2nd floor and 4th floor to get internet hooked up , then you can go back to your room.||||Otherwise, the location and furnishings are awesome. Customer service is very accommodating and helpful during office hours not to include weekends.

Jane and Rick provide superlative care and consideration to their guests. They are responsive, respectful, and accommodating.

The property is centrally located downtown, close to everything. You don't need your vehicle while venturing around town. At the same time, it is a little hidden so it offers some privacy.

The rooms are well appointed for in suite dining and comfort. It has all the amenities: crock pot, blender, pots, pans, and other little highlights. The rooms are modest but they provide all the creature comforts: lots of windows, spacious living room, and dining. They have balconies that face the river, offering a quiet and beautiful view.

It has an elevator for those with mobility issues, trolley cart for your baggage, and easy parking.

Simple. Comfortable. Convenient.
