After driving 10 hours from Moose Jaw through the Grasslands National Park and Cypress Hills, as well as loooooong deserted back roads that we feared we'd get lost on, we finally pulled in to Guesthouse 71 Studio, and what a welcome sight! The little cottage was perfect. We had planned to check in and then seek out a restaurant for dinner in town but we were just too bagged after such a long, tiring drive. Dawna, the host, had thoughtfully left a charcuterie plate in the fridge, along with baked treats, so we scarfed those down with a glass of wine on the deck, watching the sun set on a beautiful green pasture with three horses grazing 50 feet away from us. We were so grateful! After a quiet, restful sleep on a super comfy bed, we cooked up the eggs she had left for breakfast in a gadget you put in the microwave (?!) and they came out superb. Toast, juice, fruit and yogurt, as well as great coffee in the French press rounded out the meal and fortified us for our drive to the airport and back to BC after our holiday. Guesthouse 71 is a wonderful hidden gem that we would highly recommend. Thank you!

An idyllic place for a peaceful getaway. The grounds were well cared for. The house itself was comfortable and warm. Every need was met. There was a kingsized bed, large shower and comfortable seating. The decor is country house elegance. I can't think of anything I would ask for. If you are looking for a country retreat close to the city this is it. Just a note. If you plan on arriving by motorcycle there are two km of hard packed gravel road after the pavement and the roads on the roads on the property are all gravel.

What a fabulous find!! My wife and I were looking for a quick Medicine Hat getaway from Calgary for a couple days, and through research came across Guesthouse 71. We were really looking for a quiet B & B rather than a traditional hotel room, and boy did we luck out with this place. While not located in Medicine Hat it is just a short 10 to 15 minutes drive, so you really get to experience the beauty and tranquility of the beautiful countryside, yet easily get to those urban things that you might desire. |The standalone cottage is absolutely beautiful, with gorgeous decks and patio to enjoy the setting sun. Inside, the decor perfectly matches the beautiful surroundings, and is warm and welcoming throughout. The hosts have thought of everything, including a provided self catered breakfast that is absolutely delicious in all respects. ||This place is a true gem, and while we have stayed in many B & B’s this one ranks right at the top..if your looking to visit and explore all that Medicine Hat and surrounding area has to offer, ditch the hotels and stay here……you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I have been here twice now and each time it is exactly what we needed - a place to relax and do nothing. Guesthouse 71 has everything a person needs so that all you have to do is sit back and put your feet up. They provide things like waffle mix and mini quiches, yogurt and granola for breakfast. They even do charcuterie in the hayloft of their working barn which has been decorated to make it feel like a special occasion. On both of our visits, my wife and I have begun discussing our next trip to Guesthouse 71 while we were still on the driveway as we were leaving. Being residents of Medicine Hat it really is nice to have a vacation in a place that's so close to home. It's truly relaxing there and I can't say enough about how much we love it there. I hesitate to leave too good a review lest it means we find it harder to book a time in the future. But the Motz family really deserve the highest praise for sharing this little piece of heaven with the rest of us. Please, do yourself a favor and spend a day or two out there. You will have a hard time leaving.

Guesthouse 71 is such lovely little space for a quick quiet getaway. It's just 10 minutes from Medicine Hat but feels secluded and peaceful. The space is well appointed and the hospitality details provided by the hosts push it over the top. Dawna was very accommodating about food restrictions for the included self catered breakfast, too, which was delicious! The only drawbacks for us were that the bathroom door doesn't provide much privacy, and the lamps in the bedside lamps and living room were very bright. It was a perfect way to escape life for a night.

My husband & I stayed at Guesthouse 71 on our way to Cypress Hills. Our plan was to spend a day in Medicine Hat and then continue on...originally we had one night booked at GH 71, but then changed to two nights. I am so glad we did! ||The Guesthouse is a beautiful sanctuary where you can relax and enjoy the wonderful surroundings. We enjoyed our walks on the property and we were amazed with all the beautiful birds and their lovely songs!||The bed at the Guesthouse was so comfy (best sleep ever), the breakfasts were amazing and everything was just perfect. If you are planning a Medicine Hat and/or surrounding area adventure, this is where you want to stay!

My husband and I celebrated the new year here after a busy Christmas holiday and it was perfect. We left feeling well rested and relaxed. Having the added charcuterie in the hayloft was such a beautiful and unique experience. You definitely forget you’re only minutes from Medicine Hat while staying here. Can’t wait to come back!
