My husband and I went to Hometown for the first time today. The atmosphere was incredible-bright and modern. There is a collection of spoons, framed recipes and history pictures hanging on the walls upstairs. The staff is very polite, knowledgeable and prompt. The food was delicious-all local from shops in and around the Hat. No tip is expected-the waitress explained that they ‘make a good wage and have benefits’…Wow!…a boss that cares. I instantly liked this place even more! Highly recommend..We will be back! Note: Reservations are recommended.

Awesome spot. Details were thoughtfully curated down to the sturdy, comfortable seating. Great food, great menu, great people. Even the fruit was delicious, for Alberta that is saying something!

Last night after months of waiting for their opening, we got to experience Home Town!! Immediately we were impressed and not disappointed in the slightest with their atmosphere and decor. The historic building with exposed brick, small cozy dining gave such an intimate feel and dining experience.

Their menu although small was loaded with dishes filled with unique flavors and combinations. Dishes were unique with some giving praise to other dishes from around the world.

We started with the bacon cream cheese dip served with mini pretzel loafs. This dip was unreal. Perfect amount of dip for the perfect about of loaves.

Next, we had the salmon with carrots and corn and Brussels sprouts. Amazing spiced crust on the salmon, perfectly cooked and so much flavor with a little heat in the carrot and corn.

The steak was the best steak I’ve had in memory whether from The Keg, Major Tom or anywhere. Perfectly grilled, spiced to perfection and absolutely unbelievable flavor.

To finish, we had to try 2 of their desserts. We devoured the Crème Brule and S’more Parfait. The Crème Brule was the perfect finish to the dinner.

We ventured upstairs to see their upper dining area complete with a “date table” and wall showing their families history including an old stove and singer sewing machines converted to bathroom sinks.

Home Town was an amazing anniversary date night and we can’t wait to go again, possibly for their weekly blind Sunday dinner where $90/person gets you a cocktail or mocktail, appetizer and main. Thank you.

Extremely happy we found this local, newly opened gem. The space is a surprise - open, bright, cozy but comfortable - with many seating options. Great bar with fantastic drink options. If you enjoy a good quality cocktail, this is a must visit. We had the Thai Fries and Bacon Pretzel dip to start, and the Salmon, Tortiere and Burger. ALL good. The three of us can be picky - especially about value for money and quality service - and we were blown away. If you are looking for a great spot for a meal in the Hat, go here NOW. Excited to go on the week-end to try their Brunch as well.

Drove in from Brooks with my coworker for a night out and it was 100% worth it! We shared the lamb meatballs, and had the burger and the chicken supreme for our mains. Everything was delicious, and impressive that all ingredients are locally sourced. The wait staff was very attentive and we had some laughs. Our server also informed us that the establishment pays employees a liveable wage that did not rely on tips, though you could still tip if you really wanted to. This is definitely a break in restaurant tradition that I’d like to see in more places!

The 2 story dining area provided with great atmosphere and I’m grateful we got to sit on kind of a balcony with a window that looks downtown towards the train station.

Hometown is a true gem in Medicine Hat! The beautifully renovated space blends modern with cozy vibes, setting the perfect tone for an exceptional dining experience. The curated menu is a masterpiece, featuring bold, one-of-a-kind flavours.

The staff are outstanding—warm, attentive, and passionate about making your visit special from the time you are welcomed until the bill is presented.

Medicine Hat needed a place like this—where community, creativity, and impeccable service come together.

Hometown is not just a meal; it’s an experience where heart, soul, and creativity shine. A must-visit for anyone in the area!

It was amazing! They had a special on the night I went with my wife, a dill pickle poutine. It was one of the best poutines of my life! My wife had pretzel bites that were freshly baked and had an amazing dip with it!

They also pay the staff a livable wage and there is no tipping at the restaurant. I would highly recommend encouraging this trend!

Been a while since I've so easily tossed out a 5 star review, but less wasn't even a consideration!
Greeting was welcoming and full of smiles, atmosphere is warm and cozy, service was as good as it gets and the food was absolutely delicious.
We hit this place up for a Sunday breakfast with another couple to check it out, but just a heads up you definitely need to make a reservation!
We found out about the mystery dinner they do the first Sunday of every month and made reservations immediately for the next one...how fun is totally blind dinner reservation!
Tips are not expected as they inform you they are paid a living wage! More places need to treat their staff this way.

This restaurant is a must, so put it on your list and treat yourself to an amazing meal in this mostly otherwise city of bla chain restaurants!
