Magnifique restaurant. Notre serveur Mike était excellent! Il était attentif et très aimable. Nous avons choisi le plateau de saumon à partager et c’était sans aucun doute le meilleur repas que nous avons mangé dans un restaurant.

Excellent restaurant de l’hôtel ZED. Une carte variée et des plats succulents.
Un très bon rapport qualité prix.
Service un peu lent mais dû au manque de personnel en cuisine. Mais Personnel très sympathique et accueillant donc aucun soucis. Ambiance de qualité avec enfin une musique pas trop forte et des tables espacés permettant de se parler sans crier .
Nous y retournerons à notre prochain voyage

Pas grand chose dans les assiettes, notamment le saumon servi avec trois pauvres pomme de terre et 5 morceaux de betteraves. La sauce est quasiment inexistante et lorsque vous demander un peu plus de sauce (genre mayonnaise) on vous l’a fait payer. Un comble pour un plat à 40 dollars.
Le serveuse, à peu près aimable au départ, bien moins à la fin du repas quand elle exprime sa déception face au pourboire. (On donne ce qu’on peut, tout le monde n’est pas crésus !)
Ni merci, ni au revoir, elle nous a laissés en plan. Disons que ça dépanne quand on est sur place à l’hôtel ( qui est très bien), mais inutile de venir exprès. Plus de 100 dollars, pour deux plats, deux bières. Ça pique un peu.

Dining at Roar was an incredible experience—fun, flavorful, and absolutely worth it! From the moment we walked in, we were treated to top-notch 5-star service by Camie, who welcomed us with a warm smile and never missed a beat. She checked in on us regularly, introduced the menu with enthusiasm, and made sure we had everything we needed. Her attention to detail truly elevated our dining experience.

We went with the Beef Bourguignon (I think that’s what it’s called?), and wow—what a dish! The portion was generous, the flavors were rich and comforting, and it was cooked to perfection. The Seafood Boil was just as impressive, loaded with a great mix of seafood that was fresh and flavorful. This is a good option if you want to order something light for the evening.

And the cocktails? Absolutely a must! Every drink we tried was expertly crafted and on point. Whether you’re here for the food, the drinks, or the vibe, Roar delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!

Located in Hotel Zed south of Tofino Town center, Roar is a must visit for coffee or a special meal. Everyone is welcome at this eclectic establishment. You can watch the chefs prepare amazing meals over live fire, often using local seafood and veggies. A bit on the pricey side but worth every penny!

Cheerful and inviting bar/restaurant nestled in the lobby of Hotel Zed.

Menu has an extensive wine/bubbly list, with a collection of nifty cocktails that evoke the Pacific Northwest feel of Tofino.

Most of the food menu items are centered around the "Roar" flame-roasted theme, with the charcoal fries center stage and an absolute must. Ordered them 3 times overall, and if you're staying at the hotel - are an excellent choice to crush after a night out.

Wish I tried more of the seafood menu, like the sea-cuterie board and the oysters. More of a reason to return!

I don't think we ordered the right dishes here... We tried the squid, salmon, side of veggies, fries, and chocolate torte dessert.

The squid was room temperature at best, but the sauce with it was delicious The salmon was decent, but we were hoping for some grill marks or any grill flavour on it, but it tasted like it was oven roasted and again not very warm. The veggies and the fries were the best things we ate, very flavorful, hot, and delicious. The chocolate dessert was covered in what felt like an unnecessary amount of hard sugar glass but was still quite good.

If I were to go again, I'd get a burger with fries and beer/cocktails.

I really wish they had a smaller steak option so I could try it, instead of only a giant option that is too much for 2 people.

They were also short staffed with only one server and one bartender, and as a result, our drink was forgotten and I assume that's also why most of our food was cold. We kept hearing the cook saying "service please" and the waitress was busy elsewhere
