This agency was contacted by a third party on my behalf to address some concern I had regarding 2 of my 8 children.
My youngest has had very severe and traumatic health issues and is in need of further assessment, diagnosis and possible treatments.
I suspect my youngest son has learning and or behaviour issues that need to be addressed.
Although there was definitely a few things I learned,I gotta say for the most part the meeting left me feeling judged and ignored.
There was very little direct contact by this "agent's and myself as well as numerous references to a condition neither children actually have or were ever at risk for either.
Most eye contact and %85 of conversation was directed at the third party
Things I already knew were being explained to me repeatedly like I'm some kind of idiot.
I desperately need a very important referral to get proper assistance in order to give my daughter the help and encouragement she requires because of her medical conditions.
Because of that on numerous times I found myself not being able to interject to much in fear I would not get that referral.
The "agent" did NOT meet or see my son but was quick to advice me of various ways to support and encourage my child to do their best with FASD (fetal alcohol syndrome).
I'm not a drinker much at all let alone during any of my pregnancies.
Even after I made it clear my enquiry into my son's mannerism has a ZERO percent chance of being FAS related, I was still being told the same things.
I was living in a women's shelter at the time of this meeting so I was already in a vulnerable position as were my children.
I was expecting support from this woman when all I felt was judgment after judgment by this woman.
I have since requested a different "agent" in hopes of a more respectful "agent".
Disrespectful, judgemental councilors have no place within a agency providing support for our vulnerable community members.
Sometimes it's hard to reach out and ask for help why, well because of things like this.
That whole thing will definitely leave a bad poke in my soul for a very long time to come
