The Western Chinese Food Cuisine selection in this town has gone to dog**** since Lantern Inn, Golden Dragon, Phoenix Terrace, Chopstick House, Pine Cafe left long ago, I have been mysteriously surprised by only the Chicken Balls at this Grocery Store. Asians are working the grills and deep fryers to keep up the authenticity and the Deep red Carmine Dye from those pesky Cochineal bugs provide the colouring I crave in their Sweet and Sour sauce. Each visit I am saddened to see how much puff batter is used to make this dish and after each bite I see less and less chicken. Sometime you get a ball of pure batter with zero chicken, and again, the price of these has skyrocketed in the last few years from 3 figures to 4 ! This might just be the last time I get these. Don't make me have to go back to 'Wait You' or 'Beijing Grande'. Those places are terrible. Help me, help you.

Great selection and friendly staff. Best meat in town. Awesome deli and cafeteria. You may pay a little more but it is worth it!

I went to Port store and the prices keep going up and up and up, also the Save - on discount is lower than it used to be .. The Western Family coffee in the recent past was sometimes 8.00 or 7.59 and plus your discount, now however , 12.89 plus your S-On more point discount 10.99.. But it is not just that , the manager accused me of venting on his kids, the younger help..Manager told me to vent on him, and don't give my kids he'll for the prices being so high, repeatedly over and over and over again. The Western family brand is okay , no name is actually better..My groceries are not bagged for me ,just left on the check out.. Pattison Group needs to offer cheaper prices on produce and meats.. The staff is usually quite polite, and will bag your groceries whilst you are paying by debit..Just 2 years ago the deals and the vibe in the store was uplifting and very affirming, however when you are accused of venting on the hired help of teenagers or perhaps even venturing out to the older folks , I am flabbergasted, because this is not true, totally unfounded.. Unbelievable , disappointing, and sad..Mesh bag of mandarines is 9.00, no bone in skin on chicken breasts, no more assorted bags of bacon ends, no affordable berries, veggies are atrociously priced.. I guess they want us to all get scurvy and anemia.. No more lean ground beef family pkg at 12.00 .. Frozen fish products are atrociously priced.. Western family vitamins, baking items flour, choco chips, bouillon,are expensive , choco powder is through the roof .. Still and all, it was the way I was treated, my friend bought family pak Ceasar salad and the romain was left so long and she bought the breaded chicken pieces from deli, but it was all thighs , no breasts.🤔 Just wanted to talk to manager but had a stock person fetch him and he laid into me about venting on the kid about the severely overpriced coffee and other products..Pissed off!!!!

#friendly #firsttime #visit stopped in to check out this store for the first time and it was very nice....
Went in for cream and milk and left with 2 bags.... and some delicious chowmein and veggies
Will be back for sure.... lots and lots to choose from... delish

Had Chinese Food tonight from the kitchen there. It was beyond horrible. Overcooked, chicken was dry, could barely find a piece of chicken in the chicken balls! The S & S pork was so overcooked it was like chewing rubber. Completely tasteless. Vegetable chop suey so overcooked vegys were going to mush when we tried to spoon out of container. Things don't look bad under their lighted display case. Buyer beware! Last time EVER ordering from there.

I want to give Quality Foods Port Alberni a huge thank you for bringing in the pet product Pet Fresh dog and cat food.
I have been in Port Alberni 5 years trying to get different stores to bring this product
and the cooler needed to store this product and no one was willing to bring it in their store.
I moved here from Nanaimo and was having to buy large amounts at a time in Parksville or Nanaimo as that's all my 17 year old dog would eat.
Thank you so much, you made my day when I came in and seen it in the store
