I was pleasantly surprised when my wife and I stayed here June 22 2022 for two nights. I needed a place to sleep for a couple of nights and after looking around I was finding it difficult to find a place that wasn’t fully booked. I was visiting family in Orangeville and from previous stays and disappointments at one of the cheaper motels in Orangeville I wanted to find something elsewhere. I stumbled upon the Shelburne Motel and was hesitant to make a reservation but decided it was only a place to lay my head so why not? The rates were more than acceptable and I figured it was only two nights, I could muster the courage again and book it. |We were skeptical when we pulled in, it looked old and dated and I was having visions of a similar experience I had in Orangeville. The check in was very quick, and friendly. We got to our room (#9) and when we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised.||The room smelled very clean and smoke free. Very small room but enough for my needs. I have to add, we like old motels. It’s almost nostalgic for us it’s just something we like. It had one king bed, a modern flat screen television, a futon with a small fridge and a little table to sit at. The bed is the one downfall I would have to admit. It was old and hard and not comfortable. Maybe I’m too used to my plush bed at home 🤷♂️. I used to work in hotels so I scoured the room for any bugs or dirt but found absolutely none. The curtains were very dated bit something I haven’t seen before was a window in the front AND the back of the room. It was so nice to keep both open and have fresh air blowing through while we slept.||The bathroom was more modern. The vanity looked new as did the toilet. The shower curtain was clean and not stained whatsoever. The tub could use some updating but it was spotless as well. They gave us two bath towels, 2 fave cloths a bath mat and two hand towels. It was plenty. ||Again, we like old motels, if you don’t, don’t stay at them or at the very least don’t be so hard on them. They’re old what do you expect! ||The carpet in the room had a few ripped in it, almost like it was too big for the floor but, it was spotless and soft on the feet. |Everything in the room worked well, we had zero issues.||The atmosphere was quiet, we were not bothered by noise or rowdy guests we slept uninterrupted throughout the night. ||We will definitely stay here again, we decided that if a quick cheap motel was all we needed this will be the place we book next time.||The check time is 2pm and the check out time is 11am, plenty of sleep in time 🙂|If you decide to stay here, understand that this motel is probably older than you, there’s only so much they can do to keep it updated. So if your used to the Best Western or Hilton this is not for you. If you like us and find old, outdated motels fun and humours than book here.
