We popped in because we liked the name and we very satisfied with our experience. Portions were a good size (we left full) and tasty, service was prompt, clean, not loud so conversation could be had. I would recommend.

We came on Thanksgiving weekend for dinner, and all I can say is WOW.
We ordered both the Thanksgiving dinner special and the fish and chips, and both were fabulous. Generous portions of food - real turkey, not slices of turkey loaf, homemade stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce - chef's kiss! The fish and chips were delicious, again with generous servings of each.
This is the most underrated restaurant, and a wonderful surprise. So happy we came here for dinner.

Very nice location. Once entered the establishment we were greeted immediately and given a table. I got the featured special of ribs with potato and veggie. I also got the soup of the day and it was fantastic and amazing portion. Also got their In house beer. The ribs were slow cooked and fell off the bone. The portions were very good size. Overall I was left impressed with my service.

Cool little spot. It's shared with a travel lodge hotel. The restaurant space is a little outdated, but I think that's what makes up the charm. Food is good portions, coffee is decent, and they're fast.

I had the French onion soup, which tasted weird and needed more cheese. My friends had the taco salad, steak and several other things on the menu. The steak was good but everything else was mediocre. There was also no drink menu and our waiter didn't know what was on tap. The decor is dated and the restaurant was lacking. I don't think I'll go back.

This is my first time visiting The Shire, but it won't be my last. Their service was lovely, very friendly and kind. I was out on my own, and some places don't handle solo diners well. Thankfully, they were lovely.
The food was very good. Ceasar salad was simple but crisp and good. I had the smoke meat sandwich with fries. You can tell a lot about a place by their fries. These fries were the perfect ratio of crispy outside to fluffy inside. Delicious. Gravy was a tough saltier than I like, but it's still good flavor. Sandwich was VERY good and very filling. Lots of smoked meat. Overall, will visit again.

I was really pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The restaurant is inside the hotel but it sure didn’t disappoint me. I had steak and wings with a Caesar salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cut was good. The wings were tasty. The service was attentive and quick. The food arrived quickly. The patio was in direct sunlight and they had one umbrella which the server placed to shade us from the sun. It was very good service. I would recommend this place.

A very cozy place. My partner and I came here after an unfortunate afternoon at Service Ontario and it lifted our spirits. It’s a diner with home style food, and although there are no obvious accommodations for gluten free individuals, I was able to request that my benny not have any bread. It was very tasty. My partner got the french onion soup and caesar salad.

Our server was very nice. I liked that the booths were large and the restaurant itself was spacious. There are hints of decor that remind you of the shire.
