Wonderful experience at The Beau Bistro! The service was incredibly attentive – our waitress even spoke to us in French when she realized we were francophones, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. The Bistro burger (smash style) was absolutely delicious: juicy, flavorful, and perfectly done. And the peanut butter pie jar dessert… simply magical! A great spot for a tasty meal with a warm, personal touch.

I wanted to love this place and had I been dining alone, it probably would’ve been a 5-star experience . I enjoyed the asparagus appetizer, a local IPA, and a creative cauliflower steak (which was not served as a typical steak slice but a towering volcano-piece of cauliflower which was fine by me). Our waitress was excellent and so apologetic through out, I truly felt for her.

Unfortunately, it was mishap after mishap for our group of seven. Two guests’ fish and chips tasted like they were fried in very old oil. The much-anticipated steak frites arrived beyond overcooked. Another guest’s arctic char was so heavy on the black pepper that even the spice lovers at our table were coughing.

And while the food was far from perfect for everyone, what made the experience truly disappointing was the youngest guest at our table received their meal after everyone was halfway through—and it was the wrong dish TWICE. We asked for chicken strips from the kids menu and were given fish both times. Thankfully there was no allergy involved, but it was shocking. After the second mix-up, we gave up and let them have ice cream for dinner since everyone at the table had long finished their meals. The staff kindly comped desserts, which we appreciated, but it didn’t undo the frustration, or the hunger. I still can’t understand if it was a genuine kitchen mistake both times or if they were trying to pass off fish bites as fried chicken for a kid, but it was odd to say the least.

This was a Tuesday with a reservation, and the place was not packed by the time we hit the second returned plate. I sincerely hope the kitchen gets things sorted out, because the service was lovely, and the concept has promise. But the level of error, especially with kids at the table and potential allergies in play, makes me cautious about recommending it.

Sat on the lovely patio for later dinner. Amazing staff and delicious food. Had stake frities with truffle butter... WOW so good and coming from Someone who doesn't like mushrooms... But it was so mouth-watering good. If in Picton, a must stop.

Beau's Bistro in Picton, Ontario, offers a cool atmosphere and a mostly satisfying dining experience. During a quiet weekday visit for countylicious in late fall, the standout dishes included the grits and perch fritters, both of which were flavorful and well-prepared. However, the vegetarian Thai noodle plate was underwhelming, lacking the expected punch of flavor. The fried chicken was good but seemed to miss a certain element to elevate it further.

The restaurant's ambiance is inviting, making it a pleasant spot for a relaxed meal. While some dishes could use a bit more zest and some dietary limitations, Beau's Bistro still delivers a worthwhile dining experience with its unique menu offerings.

The bistro itself has a very relaxed vibe which was we were looking for. The server was very kind and attentive to our needs. The food was hit or miss. The calamari was cooked perfectly, the potatoe croquettes were bland and underwhelming... it didn't match the presentation. We had to ask the waitress for additional salt as the potatoe and the sauce has no flavor. For the mains the fish and chips was fine. Nothing special. The Thai curry noodles were delicious and the vegetables still had chew which really added texture to the dish. The drinks were great... woulnt add fruit to a Irish coffee tho in the future.

My friends and I came into the restaurant and had a very wonderful welcoming experience.

The young lady greeted us with a smile and conversation which set the tone for the evening.

The young lady that served us was attentive and made sure we were okay throughout our meal.

It’s very reasonably priced and the food was delicious. Next time I returned to Picton I will definitely return to this restaurant. All the staff made us feel welcome and that was lovely. Thanks for a wonderful experience at your restaurant.

I really wanted to like the Beau Bistro, but honestly, it was a letdown. I took a friend there for her birthday dinner, and we ordered a selection of appetizers. Unfortunately, none of the dishes stood out in a memorable way.

The biggest surprise was the $16 perogies appetizer—which came with only two perogies. They tasted good, but $8 each felt excessive. The salad was served on a plate that was too small, making it difficult to eat as it kept spilling over. The vegetables were all shaved, which also made the texture awkward and hard to manage.

Overall, the quality of the food didn’t seem to match the pricing. We dined indoors—the atmosphere was fine and the service was good—but the food just didn’t deliver for the cost.
