Our party of six was celebrating my sister's birthday and we made a reservation at RARE. The atmosphere was so charming, quaint but full of life and the restaurant quickly filled up. Samantha was our server and was such an absolute delight. She was so charming and had a quick sense of humor, she was so personable and such a wonderful server. Our appetizers and main course was out of this world !! Everyone absolutely loved their meals and cleaned their plates! Everything was wonderful ! I met Haley upon leaving who was a delight. Such a fantastic evening ! Thank you

Just had an excellent dinner at Rare. We decided to go with four appetizers; each in its own way was delicious. Sauced and spiced perfectly.
Had several chats with the owner about food and restaurants. Delightful time.

We read about the restaurant on the Kawartha's news so we have decided to give it a try. Overall is good, one of the owners came and greeted us and served us, She was friendly and patience enough to go over all the items on the menu. We have ordered a bit more than normal because we wanted to share and try out the different dishes. I've rated the Food a three stars, mainly because of the mushroom Bolognese was the biggest disappointment which incurred have only received a three stars rating. The rest of the dishes were better than average and the portions were generous. The Happy Hours drinks were surprising good and reasonable. Would I go back, the answer is Yes. I definitely would like to try their 'theme' tasting menu the next time. It's not easy to operate this type of restaurant in a smaller town. Hope they can go through the teething period quickly. Best of luck.

For a special birthday, my family arranged a private surprise gathering at Rare. It was my first time at the restaurant. The food tasted as good as it looked; the presentation was simple and yet artistic. The drinks were refreshing and balanced, not too sweet. The sophisticated setting with a touch of humour made it charming, comfortable and inviting. And the service was wonderful; we didn't want for anything. I look forward to dining there again.

Little restaurant with a specialty
Menu. Popular place for special celebrations. It was a busy a night, the two female waitresses were absolutely lovely had everything under control, the food was delicious and I really cannot ask for anything more. We will be returning for sure. Thank you again for a n amazing evening.

My husband and I recently enjoyed a date night at Rare Restaurant, which was a refreshing change of scenery since we live and travel on our boat. Our experience was delightful, with delicious food and excellent service.

We ordered the ribeye, which was cooked to perfection at medium and came with a side of carrots, fingerling potatoes, and green beans. While the vegetables could have used a bit more seasoning to suit my taste, they were still quite enjoyable.

The cast iron French bread was a delicious treat, and the specialty cocktails were expertly crafted and complemented our meal perfectly. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to our enjoyable evening.

Overall, Rare Restaurant provided a wonderful dining experience, and we look forward to returning in the future.

My husband and I came for our anniversary and it was LOVELY. They were kind and accommodating when we called to adjust our reservation time as we were out of town. (Took us early!) You can tell this place is a labor of love from the moment you walk in the door - from the front of house staff to the executive chef in the kitchen. The food was amazing. Ordered the pesto linguini and honestly it was a beautiful, incredibly thoughtfully designed dish. Absolutely delicious. Wine was excellent. So glad we stumbled on this place! Will be back! What a gem.

Another amazing dinner, service was perfect, very friendly and welcoming.
The chef came to check in on dinner, which I thought was a great touch.
Ordered a steak that was honestly the best steak I’ve had in a long time! (Ribeye)
The duck was also good, it came with gnocchi which was garlicky and soft and Oh so FANTASTIC.

Cocktails - TRY THE MIDNIGHT ONE! - so good.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
