We visited the Sarnia/Petrolia area from Michigan in early July and were very happy to discover Black Pearl Bubble Tea while we were walking around downtown Petrolia.

Location

The store is located in a small storefront in the historic Vaughn Block (circa 1879) in downtown Petrolia with plenty of free parking on the street.

Selection and Prices

The menu consists of a variety of teas, smoothies, and iced coffee. Our group tried several of the options available and everyone enjoyed the fact that the various flavors available could be mixed-and-matched to create each person's personal favorite! In terms of pricing, we all felt that the pricing provided great value for the money.

Service

The owner of the shop was very friendly, made everyone feel welcome, and provided excellent advice/recommendations about the various drink options that were available.

Practical Information

It should be noted this is a seasonal business that typically is open from late April until early/mid October.

If you are in downtown Petrolia and are looking for a delicious and refreshing beverage on a hot day, I would definitely recommend stopping by Black Pearl Bubble Tea!

This was our first time visiting Black Pearl Petrolia!!! The owner is super friendly and the drinks are amazing. We had the coconut milk tea with tapioca and the mango smoothie!!! We can’t wait to go back:)

This was my first time ever having bubble tea! I heard many good things about this establishment but had to wait until they reopened after their winter season closure. I kept at eye on their Instagram account and went as soon as I could.
First impressions is a nice clean and quaint shop. There were two people in line before me when I arrived.
The first person the lady was already finishing serving, she made sure to open the door so the customer wouldn’t drop her drinks as she left.
The next customer was a male and she knew his order right away. The male customer couldn’t quite recall his wife’s (my guess he wanted to surprise her with a drink) and the lady recalled it in a second.
Then when it was my turn and I mentioned this was my first time having bubble tea, she took the time to explain the menu and go over any questions I had. I decided since it was my first time, to have the famous black sugar milk tea with tapioca. The lady stated she makes the tapioca and it takes two hours to do so. And she does this twice a day so they stay extremely fresh and chewy (as if they sit too long, they become hard apparently).
The lady is extremely friendly and the price was very fair for the work she puts into it and the quality of the product.
I absolutely loved my drink! I cannot wait to try out more of the menu!

My daughter and I love going to Black Pearl for our bubble tea. We don't get to go often, but the owner remembers us each time and even remembers our drink preferences! The tea is delicious and I love the various combinations you can make!

Great place for bubble tea. Recently, we paid a visit to this store again and I found my new favourite drink at this shop. It was a Hongkong milk tea with bubbles, and it is absolutely incredible. Love it.

the best boba I’ve ever had! I love the strawberry milk tea with the strawberry popping pearls. the lady is so nice and is lovely to chat with. she makes her own recipes for everything, and truly loves boba, which is why I think it’s so good! I travel 40 minutes just to get it. I would highly recommend anyone to go here, especially if it is your first time trying boba. this is as real as it gets!
