Dr. Taylor has been my go-to for annual (“less is more”) tear trough filler. This is some of the best money I’ve ever spent on myself (if you have under-eye bags or hollows, do yourself a favour and ask for a consult). Bri is now delivering pain-free hair removal miracles with the Clarity II (bye bye, stubborn perimenopausal chin hairs). Lee has returned my mane to its former glory with PRP scalp services (🙏). And all of this is coordinated by a very friendly and welcoming admin team (thank you, Deb and Celine!).

I’ll share a bit about my experience at Mara with PRP for hair growth (scalp), as it’s a bit of an investment. The payback of PRP comes after some patience and perseverance. I ended up doing six sessions with Lee, each spaced about four weeks apart. I can admit that a few of those needles were spicier than others, but Lee works quickly and keeps the appointment as pleasant as humanly possible, complete with ice packs, handheld distractions, and friendly chats. The process requires a bit of faith, especially when you experience a “shedding” (which Lee warned about and is all an expected part of the process). After the six months of PRP, we took a planned break to let the science do its stuff.

It’s now three months after my last PRP session and WOW. I went from feeling very self conscious about being able to see my scalp to people randomly commenting on “how lucky” I am to have such thick hair. My hairdresser even double-checked her notes and asked what I had been doing because she wouldn’t describe me anymore as someone with thinning hair (my top hair concern). HURRAH! It takes time but it WORKS. My parts are narrowing and I no longer have that icky feeling of seeing a bunch of lost hair in my hands while I’m shampooing. And a bonus? All the hairs that have come in are dark, not grey!
