Though close to the city of Nanaimo and recreational area on the lake, the simply understated space of the Centre holds its own ambience of quietude and simplicity. Fresh blueberries from their garden available at every meal. And an excellent veg lasagna! Staff are respectful and at the same time responsive.

The rooms and property are so Zen, very peaceful and well-maintained. Excellence in all ways with all the spaces we do not get in a city.

The place looks a lot better than the posted photos! If you wish to feel calmness and reducing stress, the place certainly is designed for healing. Trails by the water, labyrinth so amazing !! Also nobody disturbing you and too good to find yourself returned to nature.The staff is truly caring, kind, thoughtful, loving beyond your expectations. Gratitude 💗

It was a wonderful two (2) week experience. The staff are friendly but discreet considering it was a silent meditation retreat. The chapel is a magical meeting place, conducive to the inner journey.

Very welcoming center, very friendly people. Rooms are very clean and the surroundings are pleasant. There is also a nice partnership with a taxi company to go to the harbour very quickly.

Our writing group held a recent retreat at Bethlehem staying in the Augusta section of the building. We enjoyed the private lounge area in particular for our discussions. The food was plentiful, varied, healthy and tasty. Our various food intolerances were accommodated, as well as other special requests. A walk around the labyrinth helps with focus., and the handmade labyrinth collection displayed on the walls is very interesting. The grounds are kept up beautifully. Great for tai chi or yoga indoors or outdoors. We have come here for over 8 years and hope to keep returning.

This is a serene, beautiful and sacred place. The rooms are simple but have everything you need. Towels are soft & fluffy and bedding is cozy. And the hospitality - so incredibly gracious! Meals are wonderful and thoughtfully prepared. Coffee and tea are available any time, as is the inviting and comfortable main lobby. All spaces feel calm and warm. And the natural setting is very renewing, with many places to walk or sit and reflect. The labyrinth and the lake walk are highlights.

Excellent grounds and facility on a beautiful lake.
I have been there 3 times and look forward to our next visit in April 2025.
The programs are excellent. I attend the Men’s Retreat Group led by Glenn Inglis.
Having 10 - 15 men together for 3 days of Song, prayer, reflection and sharing is a rare and wonderful opportunity.
Highly recommended.
