Hollow Valley Resort - Dorset, Ontario

We stumbled across Hollow Valley Resort while looking for a place to say for an 'impulse' trip up to Algonquin for the colours.

This place is truly a hidden gem! While the owners are upgrading the resort, the lodge itself is impeccable. Rooms are recently renovated to a high standard, spacious and clean. Each has all you could need for a few days away, but the inclusion of a kitchenette is a really nice touch, especially given local restaurants close early. The downstairs rooms also have their own decks, and best of all, each room is dog friendly!

The lodge also has a well stocked bar, with lots of choice of craft beer, and on weekends, live music. There's also a modern shared kitchen, with all mod cons. As an additional plus, the grounds are beautiful, with easy access to the river. The location also means dark skies abound (great for stargazing, and aurora)!

There are a number of cabins going through renovation - but really it didn't detract from the resort or our stay.

All in, we had a great time and will definitely be back.

Spent a night here for a quick little get away. The room was large and clean and rather affordable.

Service was 10/10 and management was fantastic to deal with.

Location was awesome for fall driving in the region.

I'd recommend Hollow Valley based on my experience to anyone looking for a nice place to spend some time to get away.

My wife and I headed north to see the end of fall leaves. Having stayed at Deerhurst and Hidden Valley we thought we would try something different. I saw Hollow Valley Resort and thought we'd give them a try. Although it didn't look like much from the outside, our room was immaculate. With a shared kitchen area and fridge/microwave and coffee maker in the room, we had everything we needed. The room and bed was incredibly comfortable. There is a bar with love music but apparently only one weekends. It looks like the original plan was to have cottages as well as rooms but the modular units were not finished as to be rented out. Once the units are completed, this will be an outstanding resort. We will definitely be going back.

Wonderful find in this area especially for the price. It was a comfortable sleep with all the amenities we needed. It was quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay there very much. The staff were very helpful and kind, and we met some really great people there as many locals come for the live music they have at night.

I do not usually do reviews but I decided to make an exception for Hollow Valley Resort. What a great place to stay with a really clean room, nice view and access to a private deck from the patio door. The staff were super friendly and very helpful when needed. A great lodge-like lounge area with a bar at the entrance that has live music on the weekends. One of my favorite part of the stay was the late (or maybe I should say early morning) live music jam on new year's day). My apologies to the staff for keeping them up so late playing music but that was too much fun. I will definitely be back again. This is truly one of those hidden gems in the most unexpected place.

What a fabulous music venue. We went without knowing anything about this place and had a fabulous time. Small and intimate. Good sound(not too loud). Great entertainment.
The wait staff were very attentive and we will be back.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Hollow Valley Resort. We stayed in a room in the lodge. The room had been recently renovated, was tastefully done up and was very clean. We had intended to come up for the evening from Haliburton to attend an evening concert, Neil Young Legacy, in the bar but upon visiting the resort's website, we decided to book a night at the lodge and make the concert part of a weekend to remember. The concert was amazing and our stay was wonderful. Thank you Chris for your lovely hospitality.

Beautiful location and great spot for live music! My band Junestone had the best time hanging out here, playing music, and hiking in the area the next day. The stage set-up and audience seating are very thoughtful! We also found the vibe at the open mic/jam to be very welcoming and the owners' passion for running an awesome venue inspiring. Can't wait to come back here again. 💗
