Wonderful place - well kept BUT doesn’t have toiletry disposal bins in the bathroom. I’m fairly certain you don’t want ladies flushing pads and tampons. Definitely inconvenient & gross when I needed to carry my nasty tampon out of the stall and into a crowd to use a trash bin. The toilet paper is pretty thin so I’d have to wrap it pretty thick to conceal it …. I suggest adding bins into each stall.

Shame on You, Haliburton Legion

After serving 24 years in uniform—sacrificing time, health, and family—I never expected the place that claims to “support veterans” to treat one like a nuisance.

Tonight, I parked at the Haliburton Legion while attending a local hockey game. Out of respect, I left my NDI 75 on the dash—a military ID that should’ve meant something. The lot was virtually empty, and the Legion was closing in under an hour. Still, halfway through the game, my license plate was called out publicly with a threat: move your car or be towed.

That’s your support?

One car in the lot and this is how you treat a veteran?

This wasn’t about parking. This was about control, entitlement, and a complete lack of decency. The same organization that puts on a poppy once a year and stands at a podium pretending to honour service—behind closed doors, they’re chasing parking spots like they’re guarding treasure.

Maybe this is why the new generation of soldiers wants nothing to do with your Liberal-lite, politically bloated, money-hungry machine. The truth is, you’ve stopped being a sanctuary for veterans—and started acting like a social club that only cares when it benefits you.

You’ve forgotten what service means. But we haven’t.

Fun place to go for a reasonably priced beer with friends and neighbours. There's darts and pool tables and every so often on a Friday there is a meat draw where you can win all kinds of cuts of meat 🙂 Around Thanksgiving you can win turkeys and hams! Before covid they hosted events like a women's luncheon which was nice.

We are so fortunate to have such a committed group of community members who keep this building, and all great opportunities it affords us, operating. So many great dances, receptions, fundraisers and PANCAKE breakfasts are held here and it is a great hall if you are looking for facilities with a full kitchen seating and bar services.

$1000 bingos from June 27th until the last Wednesday in August. Bid euchre every Wednesday.
Bridge on Mondays and Cribbage on Friday, all cards start at 1 pm. Bingo starts at 7pm. Meat Draw every Friday in the clubroom. Starts at 4:30 pm and last draw at 6:30 pm. $2.00 for 6 tickets , five draws. Public is welcomed on Fridays for Meat Draw.

The Legion hosted another Blood Donor Clinic today which I attended. Unfortunately, Canadian Blood Services has decided that this was the last clinic to be held here. The facilities here are great. Easy access and a very comfortable room for the clinic.
