From the moment Cody, Sally and Jan greeted us at the door we knew we’d found a home away from home. What an incredible property !! We stayed for 3 nights for a family celebration nearby so only experienced a tiny portion of what’s available. We stayed in the Moorehaven Tree Top Suite which is spacious and well equipped with loads extras including games and books. Sunny Rock is advertised as a “wifi detox” but we enjoyed conversations with Sally at breakfast time as we tried to figure out a few of the countless “what is its” they’ve got displayed throughout. We enjoyed gourmet breakfasts each morning and they easily incorporated our dietary restrictions. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique experience in the Haliburton Highlands. A quirky blend of resort/b&b/museum/antique store/grandma’s house. Loved every moment and hope to return someday.

We had the privilege of visiting this bullseye spot for 2 nights. The B&B exudes ambiance, history, and hospitality. And its location is truly fantastic! What a place! We were warmly welcomed by Sally & Jan, who made us feel right at home during our stay in the most gracious way. I travel a lot but write (too) few reviews. This is such an exception. One of a kind! |The breathtaking view when you wake up, the steam shower before breakfast, the quirky quiz during breakfast (not an obligatory, no worries. This is where Sally's summer camp director side shines through :-). We found it very enjoyable!), Cody & Harriet, the local beer tasting, or the delicious ice cream in the evening with Sally and Jan, the exquisite special breakfast, the Haliburton Highlands... In short, top-notch!!!

We were warmly welcomed by Sally and Jan who are terrific hosts. Our large timbered room was spacious and bright with chest of drawers and ample closet space. There was an excellent bed - and two large comfy chairs in front of the fireplace. The floor-to -ceiling glass sliding door led out to a balcony overlooking the riverbank, which is teeming with wildlife: turtles, beaver, ducks, geese, seagulls and more. Every morning we were treated to a superb breakfast - and bottomless coffee. Sunny Rock is a place to retreat to - and to engage with dynamic Sally - who is full of stories, lore, tips and much more. Sally and Jan's generous presence ensure that this is a B and B like no other. They care about the well-being of their guests and really enjoy it when those guests connect with them and appreciate the history and spirit of Sunny Rock - which exudes a special ambience we haven't experienced anywhere else in our travels. This is not a resort or a hotel, yet it is much more than your average B and B. The combination of the traditional lodge-like log structure of the main building, the terrific breakfasts, the unbeatable natural setting and the incomparable personality of Sally and her partner Jan make Sunny Rock the place to be for a super-relaxing getaway from city life.

We stayed at the beautiful Sunny Rock B & B early July for the second annual reunion of a group of friends my husband spent his summers with on Canning Lake and Lake Kashagawigamog. Last year we stayed somewhere else that turned out to be a very active place, and so we very much welcomed the peace and tranquility of Sunny Rock being adult only in such a peaceful and tranquil setting. ||||Because we require king accommodations, we stayed in the Moorehaven Treetop suite. While the room does not have a balcony and view overlooking the river like some of the other rooms have, it does have a nice view of the surrounding area, and we could still hear the rapids on the river from all the amazing windows that made the room so bright. The suite is spacious, comfortable and quiet.||||The B&B décor is comfortable, eclectic and interesting. The huge decks overlook many angles of the river, and were a great place to congregate for happy hour, or just linger quietly enjoying the surroundings! The breakfasts are delicious, and also a time of great conversations with the opportunity to make new friends! ||||There are little surprises that make every aspect of staying at Sunny Rock a sheer delight. Sally, Jan (and Ace, the sweetie pie of a dog) are what have made this place so special, and we appreciate the way they help discover the area, the wonderful hospitality extended to us, and just spending time together enjoying this wonderful space they have created. We can’t wait to go back!

We both enjoyed Sunny Rock... from the history to the "whats-it" game that Sally had us roped into the first morning (and then we could not stop), to the uniquely created breakfasts each day and the Pine Studio, which was spacious and gave us the opportunity to relax and forget about the real world for a few days. Sally and Jan (and Cody) offered great conversation, tips to explore the area and as cyclists, they offered to come to get us if it rained. They are both great people who love what they do, and it shows.

Each year when I return to the Haliburton Highlands, I stay at the Sunny Rock Bed and Breakfast. It is a clean, comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The rooms are uniquely decorated to suit the needs of the guests. Each breakfast is a delicious treat. Something new is created each day, with fresh fruit, eggs, yogurt, vegetables, toast, coffee, beautifully presented at the dining table, overlooking the falls. Sally and Jan are welcoming, and knowledgeable about the surrounding area, activities and restaurants. This is just the best place to stay!

Charming old fashioned lodge with lovely personal touches by Sally, Jan and little pooch, Cody (including occasional appearances by Justin Beaver and blue heron). If your looking for a romantic getaway this is the place (must have previous Pioneer life experience to succeed in Sally's 'what's it game' she delights in when serving her lovingly prepared gourmet breakfasts). Make sure you pick the room on the waterfalls - this place is a 'must stay' bar none. - Nicky & George from Burlington.
