Knechtels on the Beach is a wonderful stop for eats on your way to the beach. A variety of burger stand classics, with some real beauty freh lake Erie offerings. Perch dinners, pickerel dinners (walleye, nom nom nom) pickerel and perch tacos, fish in a bun, deliciousness.

Batter on the fish is perfect, light and crispy, letting the fish inside impress you with it's freshness.
Their sides are delicious as well-fries are spot on and golden crispy goodness, whether you prefer salt and malt vinegar or just ketchup. Knechtels coleslaw is exactly what Nanna used to make at the cottage when she knew the kids were coming home with buckets of perch from fishing off the pier.

We have had a wonderful experience visiting this restaurant very first time. We ordered mushroom and cheese burgers along with their fish tacos. They were tasted delicious. We enjoyed our food while sitting in their designated beach area, which was relaxing. It was a bit busy during the weekend time but the staff did a great job serving their customers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you visit Port Dover Beach.

I ordered one of their foot-long hotdogs, but the bun-to-sausage ratio was absurd. It was about 90% bun. I also waited a while, about 30 minutes, just for a hot dog to come out (but to be fair, this was at peak lunch time). Overall, not an amazing experience but the staff were nice and the prices weren’t crazy.

The girl taking the order was not patient. It was not busy at the time of our order yet our group felt rushed. For this reason only 1 member of our group ended up ordering from here as we did not feel welcome. Overall, the fish & chips were pretty tender. Slightly overpriced but came out in a timely manner. It’s next to the beach and they have plenty of covered areas to stand & enjoy your meal.

This place is a popular, family owned Port Dover staple since 1960. It’s known for its speciality, Lake Erie fish, but since we don’t eat fish, can only speak to the hot dog and fries we had. Service was great, even though they were very busy, and food was priced as expected for a beachside pickup window. They have lots of menu items to choose from. The hot dog was 3 ⭐️, but fries were definitely 5 ⭐️. Fries always taste better at the beach, but these were exceptional. They did them extra crispy as we requested, and I regretted not getting them as poutine, as I bet they’d be awesome. You add your own condiments yourself at counters with plenty of items including pickles, tomatoes, onions. Outdoor seating only. There’s a fenced off section of picnic tables available at the beachside of the building, as well as in front, with most tables covered by umbrellas. Free 2 hour street parking is available in front if you’re lucky enough to snag a free spot!
