Flashback Diner is covered in cartoon murals, from Betty Boop to 80s and 90s cartoon characters. I would have preferred more of a vintage diner vibe over the wall-to-wall cartoons, but the space is large and very clean. My breakfast had that greasy spoon feel I was hoping for, with big portions, good prices, and a wide menu. The pancakes and jams were okay, but everything else was really tasty. Service was quick and the customer service was great. I’d definitely come back.

It was our first time at the new Flashback restaurant, in Midland.

The food was excellent. Portions were generous, food was well presented, poached eggs were axactly as I asked, and the home fries were freshly fried, crispy outside and soft inside. Perfect.

Where the restaurant lost a few points with me was in three areas, which are important:

1. The hostess reeked of strong perfume. Hostess, cooks, waiters should NOT wear scent at all. Not only it's unpleasant to have strong perfume scent penetrate your nostrils and affect the taste of the food, but it is also not safe as there are many people with severe respiratory allergies to scent.

2. It took a while for anyone to pay attention to us and come to our table to start serving at least coffee. Most breakfast restaurants bring you coffee right away (or whatever you want to drink) before you even order. At this restaurant we waited a while twirling our fingers.

3. Flashback is new in Midland. They bought the previous restaurant that was in this location. So, I imagine they are re-using tables, chairs and a lot more. Unfortunately, it looks like they did not make some repairs to ceilings and some walls, other than paint the cartooon characters - which were quite fun, actually. This can make the place look old and unkempt.

The chairs were upholstered with material that can easily be washed, but ours were dirty. Mine was stained right where we grab the chair to pull with what looked like dried jam or chocolate. The seats were also dirty (like old dirt from repeated wear).

A bit of water on paper napkin removed it. So, it was not a permanent stain. They should have washed all the chairs to revitalize the restaurant, make it look clean and new.

4. One small detail - the plate used for pancakes was a small square one, just a bit bigger than the pancakes themselves, which came neatly stacked on top of each other. Many people like to separate the pancakes to butter each one individually.
Most places will serve them in large oval plates and the pancakes are only partially stacked sideways.
My son struggled to navigate through them at this restaurant as he enjoys putting peanut butter on each.
So, please use larger plates for the pancakes.

Nevertheless, the food was really great, and so was the coffee. I loved my eggs and the potatoes.

This place is awesome! The art on the walls is so cool.

Food was good, came out super quick. This restaurant is can service so no refills on pop for free folks. Milkshake was so creamy though, highly recommend.

We got a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a chicken club to share. Club could have had more going on but it was still good.

I would come here again if/when I'm in Midland.

Breakfast was fantastic... the atmosphere is bright and refreshing as well as being very kid friendly.
Our waiter was wonderful and informative, food came out unbelievably fast and hot.
We really appreciated that the manager Raj stopped by to see how we were doing and to ensure our breakfast was as we ordered.
Thank you to our waiter Mike and to all the cooks in the kitchen for a fantastic family breakfast we can't wait to come back 😋

Very excellent service and food. I very much enjoyed the home fries, they have some actual seasoning compared to most other home fries that just use salt. Price was very good compared to other breakfast diners I have been to. Portions were very good didn’t expect as much as I got. I would recommend to all my friends and family.

Flashback Midland knocked it out of the park on Friday morning! I stopped in for breakfast around 8:20 AM and was immediately greeted.

I ordered the breakfast special, and it was truly fantastic. The value, quality, and quantity of food are unbeatable. For just $7.99, I enjoyed two eggs, peameal bacon, I opted for half potatoes and the other half fresh cut tomatoes, rye toast, and a steaming cup of fresh, great tasting decaf coffee. It's an amazing value that's hard to beat!

Beyond the delicious food, the service was exceptional. My server was remarkably attentive, consistently pleasant, and always had a smile. His professional service was a breath of fresh air and truly an asset to your establishment and a testament to your commitment to great customer satisfaction.

I wholeheartedly recommend Flashback Midland and will definitely be back often. I'm especially looking forward to trying your lunches, and I hear you've switched to seasoned fries - my absolute favourite!

We went to this location as Midland is closer than Barrie from our cottage. Though the Barrie location is always excellent, the Midland location tops it some how. The waitress (Danielle) was prompt, very friendly & knew the menu well. As soon as we closed the menu, she was right over to take our order. The food was prepared right away, as we received it within 10 minutes, hot & fresh. Very large portions, quality peameal, eggs & homefries. My wife's chicken club had plenty of mayo, & I would suggest a full chicken breast cut up into the 4 quarters. The tomato, lettuce & bacon were freshly prepared. The restaurant was clean, not cramped & the decor was nostalgic. We did speak with the manager (Raz) & he was very gracious for the compliments. He runs a well maintained, clean & professional restaurant.
For the amount & quality of the food, you almost feel guilty when the reasonable bill comes.
We look forward to eating there again, soon.
