i didnt give 1 star because maybe they will reply but our combo dinner delivery last night was gross. my child wouldnt even try it, it looked like it was frozen and thawed. i have photos because the chicken was grey, it smelled bad.. and the noodles were so lucky it was looked like spaghetti NOT chow mein. there was no crispiness to the deep fried prawns at all.. it was so grossand soggy. the color also was pale like why i thought they just gave us something old. hearing the good reviews about staff i gave a neutral 3 star. we did not dine in so three star. it was delivery. i will never order again. i had to question is this is the same place i orderd last year and same thing. no thank you. it was rude and insulting it was so bad.

UPDATE: The food can be hit or miss. Last time I went it felt like the chicken wings bearly had any meat on them. I stopped coming here after getting wings with more batter than chicken one too many times. I have yet to find another location with their old wings quality and flavor though - it use to be by far one of my favorites.

I always order the deep fried chicken wings with fries and gravy and it has always been great quality. We ordered the spring rolls and a wonton soup to share between 3 and it was a nice appetizer size. Portion size is good for the price and food flavorful. They have chilly sauce which has a nice spice with a sweet garlic flavor, for the chicken wings - it's pretty spicy so I suggest trying a small amount first. Tables are very comfortable and customer service is very friendly and attentive.

It’s really nice to come to a strange town and receive top notch service and good food in a comforting and relaxed environment with a great atmosphere, Great West provided all of this within moments of me sitting down.
I always approach new restaurants with a bit of trepidation as you never really know what to expect, this place looked like it predominantly catered to western tastes which it does but I was delighted to find traditional dishes and tofu on the menu my favourite hot pot “8 jewels hot pot” was called “special tofu hot pot” but was still the delightful mix of tofu, vegetables, seafood and pork, absolutely delicious and for kicks I tried the almond chicken which was superb, they also have Mapo Tofu and a host of other dishes. The place was busy with family after family of people packing the place, the servers were excellent fast polite and very kind, and it was wild to watch them hustle and yet be so efficient, great service! The owner was also very nice and has a great sense of humour, the place was very clean and bright so it was very comfortable to enjoy a meal here and I can truly understand why it’s so popular!

I have ordered twice from this establishment both times food was disgusting and missing items so I was forced to return to the restaurant and get what was missing. Sorry but ten small pieces of overcooked pork in a heavy fried batter, dusted with garlic salt is not dry garlic pork, and even worse it is almost $20. The sweet and sour is the same thing except you get a container of sweet and sour sauce to dump on your battered pork. The almond chicken is chicken breast fried in pancake batter and a handful of almonds thrown in the container. The chicken chow mein is the worst, as it has no flavor, no seasoning, no green onions and no sesame oil. There is better places to eat.

Lesson learned. I'm sorry West End but $20 for 10 small pieces of pork covered in batter and sprinkled with some garlic salt is not dry garlic pork. Doing the same and covering it with sweet and sour sauce doesn't make it good sweet and sour pork. The chicken chow mein has absolutely no flavour, no chicken flavour, no sesame oil, no salt and six pieces of green onion. The almond chicken was five thin slices of chicken fried in pancake batter with almonds thrown in the container. The beef and greens chop suey and white rice was good. I got to my hotel and found out I had to return to pick up the chow mein because they forgot it.
I normally don't do reviews but I figured other people traveling to Rupert should be made aware.

Thought I'd try west end while in Rupert for the day. I ordered some chowmein with beansprouts and was happy my order was correct upon receiving it (they even wrote it on the lid). For the price the food was great. Cost me just over $10 for some chowmein and I got plenty to enjoy. While I wish the chowmein had some more flavor it was fine how it was and I ate it all.

I do wish they had a vegetable spring roll option as theirs had pork in it. But that is my only complaint.

Overall was a nice meal for a night in Rupert.

Got chicken chow main and sweet-and-sour pork and the sweet-and-sour pork was deep fried not the one I was looking for you can chow main was not even chicken in there
