Truely and amazing resort with some indescribable views. Excellent and genuine service from the kindest staff and management.||My wife and I spend a few nights at Nootka, a "buckt list dream" came trough... We are NOT fishermen, but seem to be doing the right thing right as the fishing part turned out pretty succesful. Likely thanks to the great tips received form the kind staff and the other guests, thanks a lot :-)||NSR is, in our opinion, the Maldives of the North. MUST VISIT!

Nootka sound resort earns five stars for its staff and facilities.
There is no other west coast fishing lodge that I am aware of that offers the luxury fishing experience possible with their fleet of North River boats .
These boats with seakeeping gyro stabilizers and shock seats, make fishing the west side of Vancouver island an unforgettable experience .
A special shout out to all the hospitality team that made our stay memorable and enjoyable .
The Chef and the dinners were exceptional .

I just returned from a fantastic experience at this resort. You might not expect to have world-class cuisine at a floating fishing resort, or rooms with views of eagles diving for fish through large windows, but this Nootka Sound Resort is best in class. If you are going to make the trip to go fishing in the pristine waters of the Nootka Sound, it is best to do it in style. The rooms have full hot showers with contemporary fixtures and the beds are incredibly comfortable at the end of a day of catching fish. ||Thanks to the resorts heavier boats, complete with anti-roll highspeed gyroscopes, the sea conditions were barely noticeable. That kind of ride, combined with the skill of the best fishing guides in the region made the trip highly productive. Our group flew home in seaplanes with over 1,000 lbs of caught fish that were filetted, flash frozen and vacuum sealed with labeled with the fish type and date caught. My fridge is packed with enough salmon for a year and with the price per pound one would pay in a restaurant, it constitutes a valuable fresh haul, with the added benefit of knowing where the fish came from. And this trip was in the early weeks of the season. ||Our group enjoyed amazing weather. While much of the rest of North America was roasting in a heat wave we were wearing light windbrakers. At the end of the day, we returned to perfectly made up rooms for hot shower, an exceptional meal that rivaled any NYC or SF restaurant, aand cocktails, wine and beers by the fire pit infront of an amazing moutainous landscape carpeted by endless evergreen landscape. No need to travel to New Zealand when this landscape is right next door. If you are an experienced fisher or someone who wants to check a fishing trip off their bucketlist, this is THE destination. The seaplane ride up from Vancouver or Seattle is out of this world!

The setting is breathtakingly beautiful, the staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms and especially the beds were very comfortable, and the food was amazing. On top of all of this they have new, high-quality boats and experienced/passionate fishing guides. The guides work extremely hard to maximize your catch and were good about providing assistance based on client needs. I caught my limit as beginner. ||Getting to the lodge is half of the fun as the area is beautiful. Starting at happy hour Bears eat on the shore nearby and eagles perch in the trees watching the days catch come in. There is so much beautiful wildlife. ||I was there for a business retreat, but I highly recommend for a family vacation or even a nature loving ladies' retreat. Yes, I meant ladies retreat!

As a guy that was brought up on fishing, camping, hunting and just looking for outdoor experiences, this bucket list trip was well worth the travel and cost.
I went with three of my uncles and the road trip and boat rides to this resort was a part of the experience. Beef jerky, stopping for food along the way and the fish stories were abundant causing me to cry laughing so hard. Maybe you can experience this with your brothers, friends and or family in your life.
We gathered in Port Angeles and drove onto the Victoria ferry. The road To Moutcha Bay (where we caught a boat to Nootka Sound Resort) is full of rolling farm land, meandering streams nestled in the shear cliffs and mountainous regions of Vancouver Island.
The last 25 miles of logging road created the beginning of the next stage of the adventure from Gold River to Moutcha Bay. When you reach the Moutcha Bay Resort, you are treated with care even though you are not a guest of that resort but traveling to Nootka Sound Resort.
The boat ride from Moutcha Bay to Nootka Sound Resort was first class in a 32ft (10meter) North River boat and captained by an individual named "Snacks" (This is going to be a good trip) It will make you want a gyroscope on your boat rides for the rest of your life.
We arrived in 20 minutes to a floating hotel well equipped to be nestled in the wilds of the island. Great care was used when planning this oasis from having the basic needs and luxuries one could hope for, but also keeping the environment in mind as to not disturb the ecosystem.
The staff provided safety debriefs when arriving at the hotel and boarding the company vessels. A tour was provided to allow one to understand where all the accommodations were located when not fishing. We played pool and watched TV shows about Vikings. Manly stuff. Now this isn't a testosterone only zone, there were awesome fishing ladies staying also who killed as many fish as the guys.
Let's talk about food, we are guys and food is important. The first morning began with our choice of any full farm style breakfast we could invent in our heads prepared by a culinary chef.
If you like breakfast, this is the place.
The resort provided a water bottle and lunch bag so that you can stuff it with the monstrous sandwiches, chips, and the wide variety of munchies that were available in a buffet line. I will have one of those, one of those and one of these. I was realizing that I will probably not starve on the trip.
The boat we were going to use was a 27ft Grady White that was fully equipped and captained by a fishing guide called "Jake the Snake". If you can get this guide, request him. He was accommodating and fit right into the group of my uncles and I. He was knowledgeable and fun, one can tell he lives doing this work
The fishing was phenomenal and we got lots of salmon the first day. The second day was where we were in our element and the four of us limited out on Ling Cod. Fish and chips... Yum. The staff prepared all the fish to travel and be frozen for future consumption when we returned home.
Let's get back to food. Happy hour snicky snacks (Asian dumplings, deepfried pork belly with sauce and other goodies) and a beer were just what The doctor ordered. The three course dinners were culinary masterpieces. Pork loin and knocki the first night, Steak and deep fried potatoes the second and chicken with mashed potatoes the third night with tasty accompaniments and sauces you will still remember weeks after leaving.
While sitting on the deck of the resort, I could only think to myself that I wished I could live here at this resort permanently. I don't know what the other two resorts (Moutcha Bay and Newton Cove experiences are like that this company owns, but if it's like Nootka Sound Resort, you won't go wrong with choosing any of them.
I still wish after the couple of weeks being gone from this experience to have another one with this resort. Maybe another fishing trip on Vancouver Island or a trip to New Zealand to Red Stag hunt. Happy Fishing.

We stayed at this resort July 25-28... they could not have been more receptive and welcoming. It was our first time here. The service staff were always friendly.. The place was clean and organized. The food was creative and tasty! It's one thing to provide great service but the true mark of a company is how they handle problems. We had a fish process issue (which was not the resort fault).. but regardless they went over and beyond to ensure that we were looked after. It was resolved quickly and by multiple levels of management.... That to me shows the true depth of service and professionalism. We will be back next year!!

Took our son for a college graduation adventure trip and it was amazing. We love to fish and this was our first experience with being "spoiled" while vacation-fishing. Everyone was so nice, accommodating and knowledgeable. The facilities were well equipped & super clean. Sleeping on the water is just special and the beds are comfy. Maybe stayed up a little too late, glued to the pool table for a night of fun and libations - but that just adds to the challenge of chasing after those early AM fish. We booked a guided trip (to get the lay of the waters), as well as renting one of their boats. The boats are terrific and come with all your basic fishing needs. PS- don't bother bringing rain gear, they provide you HH.||Chef Josh and staff know how to lay out a meal!! NOTE: Fish hard and come back HUNGRY! Each course, every night was something to ponder upon while out on water, waiting to reel in the next big one. I don't mean large portions of your every day food fare...We got to enjoy a true artist at work - the food was amazing. We also had fun with picking from a huge assortment of lunch items, to pack up and take out on the water. Can't say enough about how much fun we had - a huge shout out to all the employees who made our trip so darn memorable - THANKS.

Wasn't really sure what to expect when I was going out to a floating resort, but it completely exceeded what I had in mind! The guides were professional and personal. The first day was out with the young blood up-and-coming guide, Logan who has been there for four seasons and is no stranger to catching fish and having fun doing it. The second day was with the legendary pro-guide, Kooter, who was a blast to be out in the water and fish with! The staff at the resort were always helpful and courteous. The maintenance technician was on top of any problem that arose.||The kitchen staff led by Executive Chef (Josh) produced the most amazing dishes I've ever experienced thus far in life. Breakfasts were helmed by the Sous Chef (Alex). The two make an amazing team with great flow imagination and execution in the kitchen. Cannot wait to go back! ||Good luck team!
