Our first trip to Nova Scotia and we were not disappointed.
Joan, and her lovely Chocolate Lab, Willie, welcomed us on arrival with warmth, kindness, and local information. The views from our lovely little flat out to the open ocean were breathtaking. Falling asleep in our comfy bed to the soft sounds of the sea was blissful.
Joan's homemade breakfasts were wonderful, especially her fluffy tasty pancakes and local maple syrup.
Whenever we are able to come back to Nova Scotia, we will begin our journey with Joan and Sal's Bed and Breakfast By The Sea.

Our stay at Sal’s By The Sea could not have been better. Joan is a cordial, personable, and welcoming host, who will leave you feeling as much as a friend as well as a guest. The quiet location in Herring Cove is picture postcard perfect: twenty minutes to downtown Halifax, a convenient grocery and quick-bite cafe nearby, as well as being a great starting point for exploration of the south shore. Our room was well furnished, thoughtfully appointed, and made us feel right at home. Morning sunrise coffee on the dock or in the boat house made for a perfect start to each day, followed by a delicious breakfast in Joan’s beautiful home. Should we ever return to Nova Scotia we’d certainly plan a longer stay.

Very comfortable, spacious suite in a lovely house right on the water in quiet Herring Cove - about 20 min by car from the boardwalk in downtown Halifax and well located for exploring the South Shore. Joan is a warm and welcoming host, and Willie the chocolate lab is one of the friendliest dogs you could hope to meet. Excellent breakfasts.

This is a fabulous B and B, with the best hosts. It's location is at Herring Cove, about a 30-minute drive to Halifax city centre and an hour's scenic drive to Peggy's Cove. It's a quiet, beautiful spot, with great views out to the sea from the breakfast area, the room and down on the little jetty. It is very private (you have your own entrance), has a spacious lounge and dining area including a kitchen with the basic essentials. Just around the corner is a small convenience store and an excellent take-out with a huge menu - the fresh fish and chips were the best! Sal's was the perfect place for us to stay - a real relaxed, home away from home. We would definitely stay here again - highly recommend it. A special hug for young Willy the chocolate Labrador.

This B&B has a gorgeous view of the water and a lovely dock with colorful Adirondack chairs and flowers. There is also a small building on the deck that has a cozy wood burning stove, a table, chairs and refrigerator. We ordered a great pizza from across the road and ate down on the dock with the the fire going. It was so nice to have the extra outdoors space. The B&B has a small kitchen, refrigerator living room and a nice large TV. The bedroom has a very comfortable queen size bed. What we enjoyed the most was visiting with the owner. Joan was warm sweet and just lovely!|Thanks for a great stay!

We highly recommend this B&B . Perfect location 10 minutes from Halifax downtown with amazing views of the ocean . Our suite was very roomy with separate bedroom and living area and doors opening to a patio to have morning coffee and watch ships go by. Breakfasts were delicious! Hosts Joan and Danny became friends immediately with great conversations and helpful tourist advice.

We stayed a few days at Sal's with Joan and Danny as our hosts along with Willie their labador. Sal's is literally on the water with its own jetty. Excellent facilities with a view across the bay out to the ocean.||We were at the end of a couple of months in Canada and we spent our time relaxing on the Jetty, going for walks nearby and catching the bus into Halifax.||Joan and Danny were excellent company for breakfast, full of information about Halifax and the surrounding area of Nova Scotia.||The room was more than comfortable. Could not think of a better place to sit back and take it easy for a few days.

Sal's is actually by the sea. We could look out our patio door through St. Margaret's Bay into the Atlantic. The Eagle's Nest (actually on the lower level) included living room, kitchenette, bath and bedroom, with a private entrance. Our patio door opened into the yard leading to the dock with chairs to sit and watch the boats come in and out of the cove. a 25 minute drive took us into the Halifax harbor district, or down the coast to Crystal Crescent Beach. Joan and Danny were super hosts, going a few steps beyond expectations and providing a great breakfast to order.
