Absolutely amazing. Vegan options were so good. Vegan choppped cheese was actually legendary. Still thinking about it. Also great happy hour! Had a great time.

The restaurant is one of three distinct areas, each with its own unique vibe. The décor blends a gloomy goth aesthetic with vintage elements. Below, live bands play, which can be heard from above. The food is classic pub fare, with some items standing out more than others. The chicken and smash burger were exceptional, while the deep-fried pickles and mozzarella sticks were just average. Service could have been improved with more staff, but the team present was friendly and helpful. Oh and great prices!

Literally could not believe how bad the food was. I was surprised to come on here and see positive reviews as my friends who I mentioned how bad it was to seemed to all know this amongst themselves. We had a chicken burger and pico and chips. The burger was $17 and tasted like the fryer oil had never been changed and the cooks had used some cheap store bought burger sauce to try and cover it up. I was so hungry and still couldn't finish it. The pico and chips was basically a handful of chips with a tiny side of chopped onions and a couple scattered tomatoes for colour - my friend who ordered it had one bite and was like I can't eat straight onion.
So overpriced and such terrible food and staff service- and despite it being almost dead inside our food took ages. Will never go back here and will tell others not to as well.

The Local has a good vibe and trivia can be fun, depending on the host.

On jazz night last week, our friend Victor ended up ordering our drink for us from the patio after our server was MIA for half an hour because when we went to the main bar, the large bartender was rude and seemed to favour the younger girls waiting for drinks at the bar. We found out from the owner it was the manager. Our server last week was a short girl with brown hair who does not look a day over 15. She never knows what goes in the food or drinks we order, seems not to care, spends her time talking to friends instead of serving tables, and often just stands around staring off into the distance. She served us last weekend for jazz and it was one of the worst experiences we have had at this location and we have been coming there for a long time.

The food was amazing, but I was embarrassed to bring my family there after finding black chunks covering a lot of the ice in our gin drinks. The glasses were all dirty and as of the last few months it is one of the dirtiest bars in the city, that is if you favour sitting in the local rather than the Seahorse or the Marquee.

I would not recommend this place until they deal with their mouldy drinks, disgusting bar area, bar tenders with no personal hygiene, and get a few more of those good servers that know what they are doing.

We went here for supper and drinks before a concert in the Marquee. It was just okay.
Ordered a drink each, nachos and cordon bleu handhelds. Food was tasty but was hoping for some sort of dip (salsa, sourcream,etc.) with the nachos. Was disappointed to learn that they no longer have my fave Delirium Tremens beer, yet the patio attached (Seahorse patio?), had a delirium tremens shade tent up over some tables. Later we asked if this patio had this beer and it was also a no...

We waited for the waitress to come by for another drink for about 20 mins. Really did not see her very much, eventhough it was not yet that busy. So we decided to just get our second drinks directly from the bar instead - this was much faster.

Anyways, may be back again, would like to try the tacos!

I like the Local a lot and the new patio that's been built on the side. True I wasn't into a salad that I had there, but I LOVE the fact that they serve kombucha now, my fav beverage and first time I saw it on tap anywhere in town (please add more flavours!).. there is a feeling of ease and the live music is high quality.

The Local was already incredible but once they had Wave Foods come in and operate the kitchen it took things to another level. Love Monday trivia nights, or just popping in any time for a Horsepower and to play cards.
