The work the Oshawa Animal Services do is without a doubt, selfless. The attention and love this location have for the animals in their care is heart warming. When my husband and I moved to Oshawa with a senior rescue cat, we didn't have the intention of another cat. Fate had other plans. We now have a second senior, this time from OAS, who has enriched our lives. Suffice to say, we want to rescue them all! If you're able to rescue a deserving animal (especially a senior), please consider OAS. These sweet babies become an extension of your family unit and deserve our love and protection. Please check out this organization for your loving pet that will change your life for the better.

My husband and I brought an injured baby bunny in this morning, June 26, that we found on our front lawn. The 2 women that greeted us at reception were so amazing and compassionate with the bunny and me. (I am an animal lover and was a mess). They even called to let me know afterwards that they had found a “recovery wildlife shelter” that would take it in and care for it back to health. I will be making a donation because of the amazing work of these city employees. Thanks so much !! Kim and Paul

Easy adoption process! After application, family did a meet and greet with my dog and the adoption dog. They got along so we adopted Nelly!

My partner and I went to the microchip event. It was so so so busy and the weather was awful, but the staff made sure to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone involved! You can tell the care and pride the staff and the volunteers have for both the animals and the pet parents. Very much appreciated <3

I volunteered with a rescue and we partnered with OAS to remove multiple dogs from a hoarding situation. OAS was over the top helpful. The allowed me early access to pick up some crates. They provided a care package for the person that had the issue. They were incredibly easy to work with.

This is one of the best animal shelters around. Their staff take care of the animals like they are their own. They put their heart and soul into their work. I have adopted two dogs from them since 2022, both who came from heartbreaking circumstances. My German Shepherd/Pyrenees mix who I adopted in March 2022 was abused is now a therapy dog with Therapeutic Paws of Canada. We just adopted a best friend for him who was found abandoned and emaciated and is an absolute sweetheart. I have never rescued dogs before them, always used a reputable breeder. I never imagined the absolute joy my rescues would bring to my life and to others. We are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful shelter in our community.

The staff here were so helpful in preparing us to take care of a cat with CH and have been helpful with any questions we've had since.

It's clear they care so much about the animals 🙂

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

About 6 days ago, my husband and I adopted this friendly, little 4 month old kitten from Oshawa Animal Services and we had the best experience. An employee named Jade recommended we check it out and we are so glad we did. The staff here were so knowledgeable, helpful, informative, and incredibly pleasant to speak with. They genuinely want to find loving homes for all animals within their facilities and I would feel comfortable adopting an additional furry friend from here again in the future.

Our family had the pleasure of adopting Benson from Oshawa Animal Shelter. It's been about 2 weeks now. He is full of energy. Enjoys long walks and tug of war. He is friendly with others and loves to chase after squirrels. He's doing well with adapting. Been a good dog overall. Likes to cuddle even if he's the biggest acting lap dog.

I recently participated in the Doggy Day Out program offered by Oshawa Animal Services, and it was an incredible volunteering experience. While I’m not currently in a position to foster or adopt, this program provided a meaningful alternative and it gave me the chance to help make a dog’s day brighter while they wait for their forever home.

I’ll admit, it was emotionally challenging at times because I wished I could do even more. But overall, it was very rewarding experience that I would recommend to any animal lover looking to spend their day with a pet in need.
