Garbage store that doesn't stay open till 11 like most beer stores. Most of the staff think they're too cool for school and act "friendly". Avoid. Zero stars, and the name sucks.

My nephew went into this place after frequenting it for years had proper id was refused service because an extremely ignorant employee decided he was on something. Guess what? He is on prescription meds that control his schizophrenia. This is the stigma of mental health when an idiot who has no clue blatantly descriminsted at random for zero reason. He was completely coherent walking fine, had proper id. No smell of alcohol on him period. Employee needs some real retraining. And I know for a fact he was profiled I was in the store with him. Human rights complaint forthcoming manager a few days later posted the respInse attached to this review. I emailed them and stand behind it, the proper response should have been :the employee in question is no longer employed at this business. Nothing else is acceptable.

To paint a picture, I am 34 and my boyfriend is 32. We look our age. I absolutely can respect that people working at liquor stores need to do their due diligence and in fact find it extremely flattering when I am asked for ID.
However, we have frequented this liquor store for years. I would say at least once a week we end up at this location. I know they’re under a change of branding from Jak’s to Angry Otter but figured there wouldn’t be too much of a difference.
Today, we were ID’d. I joked about being flattered and showed my 2 pieces (Drivers and BCID). I was the one paying this time. My boyfriend recently renewed his license and only had the paper copy PLUS photos of his passport and photos of his expired license (which the numbers matched his paper copy).
Again, I can 100% understand that workers need to do their due diligence but at least one of us is there once a week, we don’t look under 19, he had photos of his passport (who carries around their actual passport?), photos of previous drivers ID, and his credit card with his name.
I will never shop here again and will advise my friends to also move to better stores that are reasonable with their requirements. We are not 19 year olds sneaking into a bar. We are 30+ professions looking to share seltzers on a nice sunny weekend.
We had no hesitations pulling out the forms of ID we have - and again, I can understand the issues with the paper ID, but he had photos of front/back from his passport, his previous DL with numbers to match the paperwork. I truly believe this woman was just sour about working a holiday weekend and was looking to put a dent in someone’s day. Good thing Last Call recognizes us and is at least a few dollars less than Angry Otter per item. Thank you for saving me a few bucks! ✌?

This liquor store sucks since changing to Angry Otter. I won't be going back there.
My adult son went in recently to buy a 6 pack of beer as he often does. He was very upset. The staff refused to sell him alcohol and said he looked under the influence..which we found extremely prejudicial as he doesn't use drugs or drive drunk.
Worst place ever.. Well never go back. They lost our business.
