We had a small group of 6, and did the wheel workshop and it was a lot of fun. Hannah was an excellent instructor and helped us each. We will definitely do another class!

I have participated in two different workshops at Amaranth Stoneware and have had a wonderful experience both times. The latest workshop I attended was the Butter Dish Workshop. I decided that I wanted to go rogue and make a butter bell instead of a butter dish and the instructor was so helpful and supportive even though I deviated from the intended product of the workshop. Thanks to the support of the instructors my pieces always turn out great and I’m thankful I get to enjoy using them every day! I will definitely be back for another workshop in the future!

I thoroughly enjoyed taking a wheel throwing class at Amaranth with Steve! I would describe myself as a decent beginner after having taken a couple of wheel throwing classes several years ago. It was great to get back to it and this studio is a wonderful resource. I was also really impressed with the wide selection of products they carry for potters. I would highly recommend taking a class with these fine folks!

Organization, oral instruction, demonstration and inviting atmospher were all disappointing!

I booked with my mother and sister looking for a fun adult activity. It was awful.

We arrived 8 mins early instead of the recommended 10. It was all prebooked so we expected to be able to sit together. That was not the case. The instructor did not try to facilitate this. I asked for help and none was given. For $70 a person a little forethought to class arrangement would have been nice.

Than my sister and I stepped into the showroom area to discuss a seating arrangement and the instructor began the class without is! It was a small class, less than 15 people, starting on the exact time seemed slightly unnecessary. She was clearly uncomfortable with us being anxious.

She gave a very general instruction and only demonstrated using the tools when asked. She was too busy creating her own items. She did not do any group banter. Each group of people was doing their own thing. Probably a lonely experience for the solo people.

At the end of the night we were asked to clean our own stations, through two rooms into the room with a sink and all the hot kilns. My mother has breathing issues and standing over a sink doing dishes in an overly heated room wad unexpected. I see on the Christmas description it now says clean up expected. It did not say that on ours.

Honestly when Im paying for an introductory art workshop I do not expect to have to clean up.

We had to track down our pieces, we never recieved an email saying things were ready. Each time we called we were given different expectations. Including today when we were told to check the website and could not find any information.

Our pieces came out adorable, one was smooshed but still cute. None of the pieces created resemble the picture advertised. That was not what we were taught at all.

I would be much happier paying more and feeling comfortable and invited into a happy space.

I recommended going else where.

I would give 10 stars if I could! They are amazing to work with, friendly, professional, accommodating. I HIGHLY recommend Amaranth for all your retail and firing needs, they are so helpful, I can't say enough great things about them! They are now my go-to studio when I’m in Kingston for everything I need.

My friends and I took an evening throw workshop with Steve, and it was such a blast! Steve is super knowledgeable, helpful, and made the whole experience so fun. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a creative and hands-on activity!
