Excellent coffee, got the iced canadian latte and it was fantastic. Perfectly balanced. Will come back to try more options. Ginger cookie was also great! I would ask for it warmed up next time.

Just started frequenting Balzacs looking for a Canadian coffee shop, and couldn't be happier. The service has been great, and the coffee is excellent.
Plus they have mobile order like larger places.

Heard lot about this coffee shop in Guelph’s social media pages. Usually I go to cut bar for my haircut and today I stopped by this place. Inside environment was amazing. Very clean & cozy place. The staffs are very welcoming and friendly. Since it was my first visit I let the staff recommend a hot drink & she recommended the white chocolate latte. The latte was very delicious. I will definitely visit this place again.

Although the coffee is good and service is good the cleanliness it terrible. I was in there 3 times over a week the washrooms were not cleaned. The same dirt was on the sink the whole week. Garbage was emptied , toilet paper, paper towel full but not cleaned. The seating area is about the same. The areas around table are not cleaned. You need to get a cleaning service or hire a new one!!

What a fabulous find! I had seen Balzac's coffee in grocery stores and did not realize that they had a location in Guelph! Excellent street-level location with eclectic decor, beautiful windows allowing lots of natural light and great views. Friendly staff and super fresh-roasted brewed coffee. Try the almond croissant but share it with a friend (or eat it as a meal 😋) Clean, spacious, beautifully-tiled washroom. Welcoming and cozy.

We’re from Vancouver and stumbled upon Balzac’s Coffee in Guelph—wow, what a gem! We’ve been here three days in a row and can’t get enough. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making every visit a joy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with lovely patrons engaging with our 3-year-old, which made our time so special. The coffee? Hands-down the best oat milk latte I’ve ever had outside my own kitchen—pure perfection! The banana chocolate chip muffin and lemon tart were absolutely divine, bursting with flavor. Balzac’s has our hearts, and we’ll be back every time we’re in Guelph!

It’s funny to me how people always say Starbucks is expensive and push the “support local” thing. Today I was walking with a coworker to Found Coffee, which is past Balzac’s. On the way, we saw a sign advertising one of their new fall drinks. We decided to stop and try it instead.

Well… the drink looked nothing like the picture on the sign, and it didn’t taste great (probably because the place was packed and they made the drinks in a hurry). On top of that, it cost $8 and they asked for a tip after saying maybe two words to me.

Honestly, I could’ve just gone to Starbucks. At least it’s consistent, you know what you’re getting, the service is always friendly (even if they’re forced to be), and it would’ve been cheaper than $8 for a simple coffee.

I loved spending time at this cafe. It is beautifully designed and the almond croissant and the coffee that I had was delicious. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good cafe 🙂
