This is a small private accommodation offering what appears to be two en-suite guest rooms with a shared sink, microwave and kettle space in a wide hallway. The rooms are based in a converted basement with easy access, and the hallway and my room were bright, clean and nicely decorated. It was extremely comfortable, and the host was both friendly and accommodating. During a seven day trip across the US and Canada, and the three subsequent days of business in Seattle, this was easily the cleanest and nicest place I stayed. Absolute gem, and perfect for hiking around the Jasper area. I should also mentioned that it is mere moments from downtown, so you can get out and do shopping with no friction. Love it.

Wirklich toll! Jedem zu empfehlen. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und verabschiedet. Die Inhaber sind sehr freundlich. Berts Geschichten waren sehr lustig und interessant. Es ist ruhig, sehr sauber, direkt in Jasper. Der Garten ist wundervoll gepflegt und das wildlife drumherum wirklich toll! Wir haben viele tiere sehen können in und um jasper! Immer wieder gern in dieser Unterkunft!

We loved our 3 days stay at the Bear Rock Inn. The location is perfect, really close to the main streets of Jasper. The room seemed recently renovated and was fully equipped. We appreciated the complimentary coffee/tea and the kitchenette space to prepare our lunch for our hikes! Maria and Bert are very welcoming and the outdoor space is very pretty as well. I highly recommend their inn if you are looking for a place to stay in Jasper.

I booked this place for my 70 year old Asian parents. When I arrived, the owner does not say hi and asks are there three people? I said no, I’m dropping off my parents and I’m going camping.

The owner continues to state over 10 times that I can’t stay or even come into the house. I promised him I won’t stay and I’m just helping my parents move their luggage and checkin. He keeps saying other people had extra guests and I kept on telling him I’m not that other person.

Then he asks “DOES YOUR PARENTS EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH?” I answered yes a little bit I really got angry this question was even asked. Is it a requirement to speak English to book an Airbnb like house?

Then he continues to say I can’t stay and we should cancel the reservation basically kicking us out. I cancelled the reservation but still waiting for a refund and the owner is not responding.

Warning to owner:
If you pre-judge someone on your previous experiences, this is called PREJUDICE. If you judge someone on race and ask questions like “Does your parents even speak English?”, then this is called RACISM. A person that practices racism is called a RACIST.

Now my 70 year old parents, first time in Canada, have a prejudice saying ALL Canadians are racist. Now how do I get this thought out of their heads when I know the country of Canada is usually so nice and inclusive of all people.

The first impression of the beautiful city of Jasper has been tarnished and my parents are now really angry. Trip is totally ruined.

Please avoid this place at all costs if this post resonates with you. Also the room is in the basement and makes you feel like you’re being locked in a cellar making you feel claustrophobic. Why would you pay more than a nice hotel to be locked in a basement?

Maria is a great host. Very accommodating and aware of Covid protocol. Place is warm and inviting and very clean. Great location.
