I have had the pleasure of staying with the wonderful people at Benmiller Inn and Spa a few times in the past. I can't say enough good things about the entire experience. The entrance to the facility and the surrounding grounds are fabulous. The staff are friendly and they're anxious to make you feel welcome and appreciated. My room has always been in perfect condition and spotlessly clean. The bed and pillows are always so comfortable. Breakfast is always fresh and delicious and their dinners are so good! If you're looking for the best place to stay in the Goderich area, this is definitely it!

We went with friends for a 1 night stay and dinner. I stayed here for business 20 years ago and unfortunately the rooms look like they have not changed or been upgraded since then. We stayed in the main building which was convenient for dining but the facility is in rough shape. The carpets are worn as are most surfaces, trim, cupboards etc in the rooms. The mattress was uncomfortable but that could be just my preference. Heating was baseboard heaters and cooling was from a very old window AC unit poorly installed with 1/2" gaps to the outdoors. There was a nice coffee machine in the room and the shower was large but very old. The toilet flushed only when handle held for 30 seconds. The TV was fine but we didn't watch.
Dinner was very tasty and I would go back for the food! Breakfast was also good, and both were included in our room deal. Also, the price was very low for one night with a fine dinner and hearty breakfast included, so if you like rustic, a great price, and good food, you should visit. If you want to be pampered in luxury or even just enjoy a modern clean room, maybe this is not the place. Perhaps a big reno is under consideration? I hope so... They would attract a lot of customers willing to pay, if they did redo a lot of the main building. By the way, the staff were wonderful - very friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

We arrived and checked in fine, were directed to our building, Rivermill- not what I expected. There was a problem with bees at the door getting in, musty smell on the carpet. The room itself was roomy, bed comfy, but very dated, windows very dirty, furniture stained, carpet stained. I was disappointed for the price. Pool nice but hot tub and sauna not working properly. The whole place needs a good cleaning, inside and out. Brunch very good, but you pay in price inclusion. Staff very nice.

I usually don't take negative reviews that seriously, but in this case, I maybe should have. My observations aren't to the degree that I would say don't come here, but just a word to those who would have more issue with upkeep etc.
Check in was okay. We were in the 80's section of the River mill building. The building is quite tired inside and out. The windows are in dire need of cleaning. Our room was comfortable but again, a bit tired looking with drapes from the 1980-1990 Era. The shower/tub is in the room, while toilet and sink are in a separate room. The bathroom floor did not look too clean.
The pool was nice, but there was fungus growing around the edges. The windows here also needed a good cleaning.
We reserved for brunch at 9:00 on the Sunday (not included in room fee). I would recommend booking later, since many of the lunch items and the omlette bar were not out until we were nearly finished eating. We did not receive any discount for the only breakfast options.
The servers are excellent and the food we had was very good.

What an amazing time we had. This historic place makes the greatest getaway. I can't wait for my next staycation!! | We just came in while driving by to see if they had room. On check in, we were given information on all their rooms and they could accommodate for my mobility issues. The pool was fantastic. I hadn't been able to do my physio the last few days where we were previously, and I was stiffening up.| The restaurant was phenomenal, with extraordinary food and service.|The views everywhere are breathtaking. The Inn is close to trails for hiking or a short walk. This quickly became my new retreat.

Stayed for the night while visiting near by town from Calgary Alberta. The ladies at the front desk were super lovely. Felt like we're at historical buildings, but everything was clean and in good shape. We stayed facing the river and it was beautiful!
The restaurant was pretty good. Peanut butter cheesecake was delicious! The meats were delicious, I think the side veggies could use seasoning though, there were none (hence four stars).
The pool was very clean as well

We stayed for one night and I am trying to find some nice things to say - the grounds were lovely but that’s about it. At check in we were not asked if we wanted to to make a reservation for dinner that evening or breakfast the next day - that is the only way you can eat there apparently. The check in person missed a golden opportunity to upsell us on meals. We stayed in the Woollen Mill which is the building where you register. If you are booking here, do not ask for a classic room in the Woollen Mill. The rooms are dated. The carpet on the staircase is in dire need of replacement and the room was the size of a shoebox with no cold water coming from the faucet, no coffee pods in the room, two used wash cloths hanging from the shower curtain. The Inn was essentially empty so - and I say this because I used to work at a high-end resort- the check in clerk should have offered us a better room. I do understand that those rooms were likely reserved for the weekend so they didn’t want the hassle of having to re-clean them. Yes, we booked through a third party app as booking through their website directly is challenging. If you stay here in one of the nicer rooms be prepared to have to drive (2 minutes) or walk about seven minutes to get to the dining room and vice versa if you want to use the pool, sauna, hot tub if staying in the Woollen Mill building. I did mention all this to the woman at the front desk as we were checking out and apparently the GM was standing there but no eye contact from her or apologies. And no offer to make things right - reduce the bill, offer breakfast to us for our discomfort. We travel a lot and usually opt for boutique, independent hotels to support local businesses. This was a bad choice. And one I hope anyone reading this fully considers before booking here.
