Visited Betty Lou’s early on Sunday evening and had to place to ourselves for a bit! It was absolutely good vibes all around - from the entry telephone call to our very friendly server and a surprise jazz performance! The drink menu was expansive with seasonal rotating specials and every cocktail we tried was great! Also appreciated the complimentary olives.

This is the most wonderful spot for a hand crafted, perfectly balanced cocktail! With a girlfriend or your partner, it would make an amazing date night! We had wonderful service, felt comfortable, yet were made to feel special! Highly recommend this spot!

The place was really nice, you don't need to make a reservation to get the password, however it is so much more fun to make the reservation and get a password - all part of the Speakeasy experience. The drinks were really good too, the picture of my drink is a Agnes Grey Colada. My friend had Agnes Nin which was really nice too.

We loved this Cosy bar in the basement of a library. You have to reserve prior, you get a code via message then once you get there, there is a phone at the entrance that you pick up, they ask you for the code which will give you access to the place. I love how it was only grown-ups in there, dimmed lights. Just a great vibe.
The drinks were great, they made me a nice mocktail. I Definitely recommend

This place is amazing! From the fun of trying to find the entrance, to the old school phone and password, to the absolutely fantastic vibes inside and amazing cocktails, this place is a major winner! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were delicious and the mixologists were happy to make adjustments to the drinks for allergies. If you want the full speakeasy vibe, this is the place you should try!!

My partner and I unfortunately had a very negative experience at Betty Lou’s this week.
Upon arrival, the host informed us that we needed to read the rules before entering. One of the rules stated that hats were not allowed. My partner is on the autism spectrum, and their hat serves as a crucial comfort item that helps them manage anxiety in public spaces. We were otherwise dressed very elegantly, and the hat itself was stylish and well-kept.

When I explained that my partner could not remove their hat due to anxiety-related reasons, the host responded that even if it was a "medical issue," it would still be frowned upon. She then added, "If you wear the hat in, people will probably be looking at you and wondering why you're wearing it."

This remark was incredibly dismissive of a legitimate mental health concern. It made us feel uncomfortable, and we promptly canceled our reservation and left.

I fully respect that establishments can enforce a dress code, but no other speakeasy in Calgary has a rule prohibiting hats. This was not about aesthetics—it was about an accessibility need. To be told that my partner would be judged for accommodating their own well-being was both disappointing and unacceptable. In this day and age, I would expect more sensitivity and understanding from a business, and I sincerely hope Betty Lou’s reconsiders how they approach situations like this in the future.

I really enjoyed spending time with friends at this charming place. The style and atmosphere reflect the Prohibition era. The cocktails are authentic and unique. You won't find food here, only a tapas menu. Reservations are a must, and it's better to dress nicely.

This speakeasy is such a vibe! I loved the live jazz band they had playing on Sunday, and the service was great. Plenty of great cocktails on the menu but the farewell to arms is a must try!
