Kitchen Nightmare!
We were hopeful when we arrived at Blue Lagoon, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from start to finish. The drinks and scallops were decent, but that’s where the positives ended.

When we walked in, most of the lights were off, and the place was completely empty- not exactly welcoming. We waited over an hour for our food, had to hunt down our own utensils and napkins, and the food itself was a huge letdown. The “Tantalizing Combo” was misleading- the lobster was more like a small, overcooked shrimp and came with an unexpected $10 upcharge. The “teriyaki” stir fry resembled mushroom soup in taste and appearance, and the steak was sour and clearly past its prime.

While our server was polite, she wasn’t attentive, and we left most of our food untouched. The final bill? $160 before tip, for a meal we couldn’t eat.

With a 4.8 star Google rating, we expected much better. Based on our visit, that rating feels very questionable. Save your time and money, this place is not worth it.

Don't eat here at any cost.

We showed up to what looked like an abandoned building lights off, dead silent, and zero sign of life. Despite being “open,” the chef apparently closes whenever he feels like it. The server was sweet but totally untrained, and the atmosphere was empty, cold, and uninviting.

Menus made no sense, including an unclear $10 charge for a pathetic lobster addition, bathrooms were falling apart, and we waited over an hour for food that tasted like it came from a gas station microwave. The table wasn't set with utensils and we needed to find our own even after the food came. Cold instant potatoes, stale bread, frozen seafood, and a “lobster” the size of a shrimp, which was tough, rubbery, and totally inedible. No flavor, no care, no excuse, and somehow it all added up to $160.

Save your time, your money, and your appetite.

This place should not be open.

I visited the Blue Lagoon in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and I honestly wish I hadn’t. If I could give zero stars, I would.

We waited over an hour just to be seated. I ordered what was supposed to be a $35 “tantalizing combination,” only to be charged an extra $10 for a piece of lobster the size of a chicken nugget—rubbery, overcooked, and nearly impossible to chew without choking. My daughter’s meal came 10 minutes later, and my friend’s steak? It tasted like pickled, fermented dog food. I had to literally spit it into a napkin.

The total bill before tip? $160. Unreal. We couldn’t even finish the food. After trying for five minutes, we gave up and drove to McDonald’s, where the food was actually edible and cost a fraction of the price.

This wasn’t just disappointing—it was insulting. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being overcharged, underfed, and let down.

My recent visit to Blue Lagoon in Yarmouth was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience I've ever had in Nova Scotia. I should have taken the hint from the empty parking lot and the strangely desolate atmosphere, it screamed "we should leave" from the moment we arrived.

We waited over an hour for our food, only to be met with truly terrible dishes. To add insult to injury, we weren't even provided with basic utensils or napkins.

The "tantalizing combinations" were anything but. I was shocked to find a $10 extra charge for the lobster. It looked like this charge was primarily for the dollop of cream, not for any substantial amount of lobster. Even the waitress could see it! The menu is incredibly deceptive, giving the impression you'd be getting a whole lobster when it was just a pathetic, shrunken, overcooked, rubbery tail that clearly came from a frozen state. The stir-fry was not even mediocre; it was terrible, and my friend's teriyaki stir-fry looked disturbingly like gravy. My friend's steak tasted suspiciously expired.

We barely touched our food before deciding to cut our losses and leave immediately. We were so unsatisfied that we ended up going to McDonald's afterward just to get a proper meal. I deeply regret ever stepping foot in this establishment. Save your time, money, and appetite – go anywhere else.

So glad we gave the Blue Lagoon a try. We tried a local Acadian dish called a Rappie Pie, the Kings burger with poutine, and a Strawberry Cheesecake, and all four items were amazing, and freshly homemade.

Prices are very reasonable. Our total came to $35, almost unheard of for how full we feel.
Service was also great, we were checked in on multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed and both the staff were very friendly, even suggesting things to visit while in town.

Definitely worth checking out.

Absolutely disgusting and overpriced. Long wait for microwaved garbage. Do not visit. Would give a 0 rating if possible.

We recently booked a buffet for our family of about 50 and not only was the food delicious, Taylor was a delight to plan with and Bentley, the owner was most accomodating. Everything was very well organized and the service just great. Many thanks to a great team and restaurant
