I'm so sad to be giving this review. Kandalore was my home; my favourite place to be; the place I looked forward to going every year for 9 years. Until management changed post-COVID. Although the counsellors/trippers are very kind, after management changed, the administration became awful to the campers. I was treated with very little respect overall, and whenever I was feeling bad, I was treated like an annoyance and a problem rather than someone who needed help.

Kandalore used to be amazing. This broke my heart. Don't send your kids here unless you want them to develop a burden complex.

Location: 5/5

This camp is near a lake after a 10-minute walk on a trail. It is best to come in Winter (Unless you come here to swim) as summer is very hot and there are a lot of mosquitoes.

Cabins: 4/5

These cabins were small yet cozy. Most cabins have a big room with 10 beds and a small room with 2 beds. They have heating and shelves/hooks to place our stuff. Although I wish that there was running water in them, as the washrooms are pretty far.

Food: 5/5

The food was probably one of the best features. There are 3 meals and 1 snack each day, and they serve different food every day. I love how there is a side table with fruits where we can make our own salad if we don't want to eat the main food. The main food itself is very good, and I love how the staff worked so hard to make it.

Activities: 5/5

The activities here seem boring, but are very fun. Since we came in winter, we done many activities such as games, skiing, blanket toss, high ropes, and matressing (My favourite) where you go on a bed matress and slide down a hill. We also got to visit "Ghost Island", a small island in the frozen lake. Overall, the activities were very fun.

Camp for me is a place where you can be (and learn) about yourself, acquire skills both with activities and with people and basically just have the best time. Watching both of my kids come home from time at Kandalore having felt supported to explore and grow and have a great time makes me so happy (and the office team is super responsive to parent inquiries which is also excellent).

This magical place is full of wonderful people who have provided the greatest summer camp experience for our daughter. She has built friendships, confidence and dreams of a pathway that will see her through years as a camper and eventually Kandalore staff. The love, care, and attention each camper receives is a sure sign that this place is committed to providing positive experiences for all. Although we miss her dearly when she is away, we are so proud of the person she is and is becoming, in large part due to her invaluable experiences at Kandalore.

Our kids hated the place. Tons of mosquitoes, small food selection and lousy planning of activities... while the price is similar to the best US or Swiss summer camps

This camp was amazing. All staff were kind and helpful. My two counsellors were astonishing. Although there was a lot of mosquitoes, this was an unforgettable trip. This summer camp is full of fun active activities and is a great was to interact more with people and spend less of your time on devices. This place holds a spot in my heart as it is where I met my best friend. I highly recommend!

Our daughter Franki (14 years old) has been going to Kandalore now for 2 years and she is a ‘lifer’! This exceptional community has met her in every capacity. Stretched her in gentle ways and helped build confidence in outdoor skills, especially canoeing. She first went not having any friends and she was welcomed with open arms and did not want to come home after meeting her new ‘extended family’!
She now goes to Lakefield College School and we were so happy to hear that her Outdoor education teacher was so impressed with her knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to navigate situations in the woods, on the water and leading in community. Her teacher leans on her to guide the other kids. Kandalore prepped her for this school experience and has really shaped her to be the awesome kid she is! We are so grateful. It is magic!
