L'hôtel affichait complet en pleine semaine du mois de mai, il est donc populaire. Ici, nous avons une grande chambre bien décorée et propre. Le seul bémol est cette note de la direction qui nous informe que le coin est fréquenté par des voleurs qui n'hésitent pas à briser les vitres des autos pour y voler n'importe quoi. Nous avons donc entrepris de tout vider pour ne pas prendre de risque..... et il n'est rien arrivé. Ce n'est que le lendemain que nous nous sommes rendus compte que l'emplacement est voisin de pawn shops et d'établissements pour encaisser des chèques. C'est sans préjugés que je dis ça mais le lien avec les vols dans les voitures se fait automatiquement. Je recommande l'hôtel malgré tout. ||||Service très lent au restaurant pour le petit déjeuner. J'ai coupé dans le pourboire de la serveuse pour son entêtement à ne pas nous servir une 2e tasse de café. Elle me l'a même fait remarquer à la sortie.

Nous avions réservé trois nuits dans cet hôtel qui est un peu à l'extérieur du centre-ville mais qui offre un hébergement très agréable. C'est du type des grandes chaînes d'hôtel qu'on retrouve dans les grandes villes. Et même s'il est un peu à l'extérieur, il offre de très bons services. Le restaurant attenant offre une belle variété de mets. C'est un bon rapport qualité/prix.

I've stayed at the Capital Hotel in St. John's over the years with first time being in 2005 just after a year of their opening. In recent years since 2021 been there for work or personal reasons to the city. Overall it's good place to stay. Staff in the restaurant are very nice. Front desk staff are too somewhat. I've stayed at the Sandman, Fairfield and Holiday Inn too where the front desk staff greet you each time you enter. Staff at the Capital not so maybe because of the relation of the desk to the entrance.
Meals are good in Jack's Restaurant.
The hotel can do with some modernizing. Chairs and tables in the restaurant show their age. Most of the rooms I've stayed in at floors 2 to 5 all have signs of wear and use. Their toilets' are in need of replacing depending on room. Some flush very slow. Made a note about the same room I was booked in May of this year and was also in the same room again last month. Nothing was done about it. Nothing against the staff who are fine folks. The owners need to pay more attention to maintenance.
Parking lot could be improved too. some of the parking places have lines that haven't been painted since 2010. Guest parking seems to compete with local trade shows and conventions. Can be tricky at times finding a place to park depending on the season.
Overall have no issue going back but if other options came up for the same price I may book elsewhere.

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
Check in was pleasant and friendly. The staff at the desk gave us several tips on interesting things to do since it was our first time in NL.

Breakfast was great/complimentary. Will stay here again.
This hotel is affiliated with the 'Steele Hotels' - part of the chain.

Room was very nice! However, breakfast was a disaster. I was at the hotel for a convention....had a breakfast reservation for 8:00 am. Stood in li e to be seated. Then had to wait 20 minutes before even getting tea. Another long wait to have order taken. And extra long wait for food! There was no hostess to seat people. Not enough staff...very poor management. If they knew there was a conference going on, should have been better organized for the weekend!

The hotel is in a good location. Close to the mall. Rooms are standard. They are clean. The room attendants were very friendly. The desk staff that I dealt with didn't seem to be very knowledgeable. I asked a question and the girl had to go get someone else to help me.
The other person was on the phone so I had to wait. 20 mins later she got off the phone and apparently it was something the first girl could have done. The room key was not working and I had to keep getting reset. It was happening to a lot of people .
The worse situation was with the restaurant. I was there for a Lions Convention so it was convenient that they had a restaurant in the hotel but the service was so bad and slow that we had to either skip a meal or miss a meeting
It would take an hr to get served
The hotel did not staff accordingly and the staff that were working were not very professional
They were arguing among themselves in front of us. The meals were OK. One morning one customer got burnt toast, it was black. She sent it back then didn't have time to eat
They didn't seem to care.
If you want a good meal go to Dennys just down the road
They served home cooked meals and the staff were very friendly and fast.

Friendly staff. Breakfast is good. Hotel is starting to age for years now. There is parking, but with only one exit, it can be dangerous to exit the hotel into traffic with an off-ramp feeding traffic into your lane. Busy road, but lots of restaurants, malls, etc.
