I stayed for one night roughly a week ago, the lobby was nice, bright and the receptionist was super friendly - I'm embarrassed I can't recall his name exactly. It is a renovated motel (I'm a local and well aware) so it has a motel layout with motel sized rooms, but it's in a handy location as it's close to the Driftwood mall. Rooms were nicely updated and the bathroom was the highlight, I was impressed that the shower had both a rain shower-head and a handheld wand option. I'm short and disabled so I really appreciated the handheld one, not many hotels here offer this. The welcome note and treats from management were a nice touch, also not something I've experienced elsewhere. Traffic noise is audible, the hotel is on a main street so I expected it. I had the AC on and it worked well as white noise. I didn't try the amenities as I checked in late evening and mostly just wanted to sleep.
The only downside for me was the bed, it was clean but too firm for me as someone who suffers from pressure pain and sleeps on my side. I slept about 5 hours total so I did sleep some, but it's enough of a downside that I don't think I could stay again. Even thought about bringing a mattress topper but I'm a walker and they are a bit big to carry. For the average person I think the firmness level of the beds is fine; I'm a very lightweight person (around 90 lbs) with pain issues. Overall I would say it's good value for the majority of visitors.

We stayed at this hotel because we came to a hockey tournament in Comox Valley. The staff are amazing. They let us watch a hockey game in the lobby where they have 4 tv's set up to display 1 huge screen. Our team even got to enjoy the bbq they had set up in the back. Every time the manager would walk by me, he would ask how our game went. We would definitely come back to this location. Thank you to all the staff, you did an amazing job 👏🏽

The management at Coast has done a wonderful job. It’s a motel design, however the lobby, reception housekeeping staff are top notch in hospitality. New and fully renovated rooms. These rooms are very nicely done with very modern fixtures. There is a note from the General Manager welcoming one. The staff are exceedingly helpful and polite. I needed a MW in the room, they sent one up. Also, they have a nice heated pool, hot tub and patio area for guests. There is a dining area with a bigger fridge and MW if one needs to stock items near the lobby. Otherwise the fridge in the room is quite spacious even if compact. The bathrooms are brand new and the showers are piercing and hot! Toiletries and coffee tea selection is good. They give wooden stirrers which is a refreshing change from plastic ones.

Hameed and his team went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Every member of the staff we talked to was kind and caring. When we told the front desk employee the next morning that we were going on a hike, he gave us the name of store that would offer affordable gloves and hats since it was a very cold morning. The service itself was worth the stay.

The room were clearly renovated recently and were very clean. Free tea and coffee is available at the reception as well. Highly recommend staying there if you are in the area.

This is my second time staying at Coast Courtenay. It’s located super-close to lots of restaurants, the landmark theatre and a couple of grocery stores. It has easy access to the riverside walk and is walking distance from Ace Brewing.
The motel has been recently renovated to a good quality, with nice finishes. The towels were soft and the beds comfortable, and requests for additional pillows were dealt with promptly, by an amazing front desk team. Top marks to all staff I interacted with who were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome.
This time around we stayed in one of the pet-friendly rooms which was conveniently located at the back of the hotel close to some grassy banks for doggy toileting.
We’ll be back!

The hospitality at this hotel/motel was possibly the best I have ever encountered. The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. The place is recently renovated and having stayed here before it was, I can tell you in all honesty they did a great job! The highlights were the bed - I slept better here than I have in months! - and the shower - it was hard to get out of. The complimentary tea and coffee and welcome chocolates and hand written welcome note were super sweet too. Nicely priced for what you get.

I love Coast hotels, however this one has smaller rooms than most. The minibar could barely open because of the bed, so that was a bit of a shocker for us. So was the loud air conditioner, an old style one. However , once we figured out, that you can run just the fan setting during the night, which is pretty quiet, we had good sleep. The hotel has the usual Coast amenities, the toiletries being very pleasant smelling, the place is eco-conscious, there is a rain shower in the bathroom and the bed is very comfortable. The place is spotless and the staff is very friendly. The location is also good, being very close to good restaurants, cafes and breweries, but not everything is walkable. The Plates Cafe next to it was busy with line-ups on the weekend, however you can order take-out and eat in your room if you want. The hotel also has 65" tvs in the rooms, where you can watch your own Netflix subscription. All in all, we had a pleasant stay.
