Legit Japanese joint. From the menu to the staff and the way they treat you to the food itself, this place deserves its excellent reputation. Our servers were so pleasant and friendly at all times, the drinks were good (especially for the price) and the food was exceptional. We ordered the agedashi tofu and karaage chicken as appetizers and I think the karaage was in the top 5 I’ve ever had, including in Japan and among the many Japanese restaurants in the SF Bay Area. Seriously, it’s worth going for that alone. We also ordered some botan ebi with the fried heads, a pretty rare treat, and they were delicious. The heads were fried perfectly and were soooo good. For the main event, my companion got a roll with eel in it (meh, not my thing, but he loved it) and I got the large omakase sashimi. The selection of fish was seriously excellent and on par with what you would expect to find at higher end Japanese restaurants. It was an excellent value for the money considering the cuts of fish. The fatty tuna was absolutely amazing. I’m going back to this place ASAP.

The soup was good, and the chicken but the sushi was just 3 stars....cool place and all asian people working. And dining so we thought is was the place to be...ehhh not so much thanks but will not return, PLEASE TAKE THIS POSITIVE FEEDBACK

Enjoyed a meal there in late September and had a beautiful lunch on the patio with family. Everything was incredibly delicious.

I would highly recommend making a reservation - as this is a very busy spot (for all the best reasons).

Food was efficiently delivered and taste was excellent.

I kept saying to my husband, “I think this is some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.” This place was bustling and busy from the second we entered till the second we left, but the staff were so kind to each person throughout it all! We had the chicken karage and some rolls. The fish was so fresh, the avocado clearly used at the perfect time and the sushi rice was my favourite part. Can’t get over how incredible it was. We will be back soon!

Doraku is truly a gem of a sushi bar, and undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in the city.

The quality of their ingredients is consistently exceptional, from the fresh fish - including the rare specials they occasionally bring in - to the perfectly seasoned and textured rice. Their sushi is unmatched by most bars in Van, TO, and even many I've been to in Japan. Even their hot dishes and desserts are just as impressive.

And just as remarkable as the food is the warmth and hospitality of the people behind it. It's a place tied to some of our best dining memories.

This sushi restaurant is absolutely amazing and every piece was beautifully prepared with great attention to detail. The flavors were perfectly balanced, The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service, making sure we had a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves high-quality sushi!.
