We just got home from our stay at Fern! It was our first time and we absolutely loved it! We have 4 children, aged 7 and under and they had the best time ever in the Playvillage. The daily activities were great for children and adults! Never a dull moment! My only complaint - but not at all a deal breaker - was how slow service is during meal times. We waited and waited for someone to ask us what drinks we wanted, then waited and waited for the drinks to come. Food seemed to come out sporadically so some got meals before others and sometimes dessert took an hour to come. We weren’t in a rush so it wasn’t a big deal, but it’s difficult to keep young children happy while they wait so long for their food and drinks so it was stressful at times. Also, I would’ve liked for our plates to have been cleared as we finished but they seemed to not take plates away. It also would’ve been helpful to have snacks (other than pizza on certain days) available between meal times - next time we will know to bring snacks! But overall, such an amazing trip, feeling truly relaxed! It was a vacation we will remember for years to come and we hope to be back soon! 🙂

Our journey with Fern Resort began in 2000, and we were captivated by its charm, becoming regular visitors until 2008. Last year, we felt the pull of its allure and decided to return for a weekend. This year, we embarked on a new adventure, choosing to experience the resort’s pre-season and the cozy comfort of one of the Edgewater Cottages.||Overall, it was a great decision.||It was a delight to be able to swim in the pool without the usual hustle and bustle, and to find a lounger facing the pool every day. The serenity of the resort during the pre-season, initially seen as a negative, turned out to be a refreshing change, allowing us to truly unwind and enjoy the tranquillity.||There were a few negatives to our visit.||While I enjoyed our cabin, I found the mattress much too firm.||I was also disappointed by the lack of evening entertainment. I would have liked a fuller evening program on our first night there. Sunday evening is the resort’s popular weekly ski show. It was great, but after it ended, there was no entertainment anywhere on the resort. I understand that a movie usually follows the ski show, but for some reason, it was cancelled.||On the final evening, a program was planned to celebrate the resort’s 130th birthday. We assumed that it would offer something for all guests. However, it was primarily geared towards the children in attendance. We were not the only older guests who walked out of Bergwen’s, feeling a bit left out of the celebration. ||Despite a few drawbacks, we remain committed to this beloved resort. Our love for Fern Resort remains strong, and we are hopeful for its future. The jury is still out on our next visit, but we remain optimistic.||I would rate this year's visit 9/10.

It’s really just ‘OK’ for the cost. Our room was in pretty bad shape which I didn’t notice last year, but after spending a few nights at Taboo before coming to Fern, it was hard to ignore. The food service also was also pretty bad - it reminded me of the service you would expect at a Wedding. Again, considering how expensive it is to stay there, you shouldn’t leave your vacation feeling frustrated. The staff are lovely, and the location is beautiful - but it feels like there’s not a lot of investment in maintaining the grounds or hiring enough restaurant/kitchen staff, and ultimately not worth the $$. We won’t be back.

We have vacationed at Fern for years and the grandchildren really enjoy it! The atmosphere is super friendly, the accommodations are fantastic, the food is very good and varied. The pools are well attended, I wish the lake was better cleaned off of weeds so that we could enjoy swimming in it. The entertainment is top notch!

We loved our time at the fern! One member of our party has severe anaphylactic allergies to multiple things and the kitchen staff did an INCREDIBLE job. The chef came out at every meal and helped us plan and order around the allergies. We rarely get to go out in our normal life and we were able to dine with confidence every meal we were at the fern. It made for a very relaxing trip!! The rest of the staff went above and beyond, especially the sports crew! The staff sets the Fern apart, for certain. And give Hollie a raise - she’s the very best!

If you're committed to 3 meals a day, over the 3.5 hours they're available... this is the place for you.
After spending four days at the resort, watching a bar tender run from the lobby bar to the pool bar and back... and back again.
We felt like squirrels, gathering and storing the limited food available, so we would have at least something to eat later.

Mary-Lou's bar was great, watch hockey, play billiards or ping-pong and starve! I have never witnessed anyone... let alone so many people rejoice as the Skip the Dishes driver pulled up!

"All-inclusive" ... did not include anything other than 3.5 hour availability of any type of food.. oh, sorry except for the classic concessions of every motel!

DO NOT SLEEP IN, DO NOT RISK MISSING A MEAL AT THIS RESORT.. YOU WILL GO HUNGRY OR BE FORCED TO GET DELIVERY, UNLESS YOU PREFER MALNUTRITION.

Our family we are foodies so the only reason why we chose to visit this place to celebrate a birthday was because of the great reviews regarding their food. Well those reviews must have been written by the resort itself because the food quality was below average. The steak was flavourful but not chewable and the veggies were uncooked both cauliflower and green beans. My husband had ordered the lemon chicken but he said it was dry. Dessert was small and tasteless. The biggest disappointment was the fruit bowl I ordered for breakfast. The fruit was stale and sour and even the colour was brownish. As for it being all inclusive the fridge in the room was empty not even bottles of water. I went to the reception and they told me we had to pay for water bottles! There was a water refill station but for that you needed your own bottle which we did not bring thinking we were going to an all inclusive. The young woman at the reception was not friendly or helpful. She would not open her mouth completely to answer our questions as if she was bored or something.|PROS - activities (bingo, trivia), skating, clean rooms.|CONS - checkin reception, food below average, all inclusive status not justified by the high cost||We might return here if they improve their food quality.
