i didn’t want to write this review until i felt qualified to do so.
in oct 2021 i got a lash lift and tint at gloss. my esthetician was nice, she left the room twice for 20 min at a time after applying the lift and the tint. the service was $80. i was very disappointed with the results. there was no curl whatsoever. i asked my friends if they could tell a difference and everyone said no. looking back, i definitely should’ve have spoken up an oh ur not being happy with the results but i’m the kind of person that struggles with saying their drink order is wrong or they don’t like their haircut. it was super disappointing considering i have done my own lash lifts with kits from amazon that turned out 10x better.
in july 2022 i got a hybrid lash set done by emily. the lashes were goregous, however they only lasted two weeks. during my appointment, about 1.5 hours in, i asked if we could readjust the pillow because i was having a hard time getting comfortable. emily said no, because she would have to take the sheets off. i asked her how much time she thought would be left in the appointment and she couldn’t even give me an estimated guess. for the next 1.5 hours i was restlessly adjusting my position trying to find something comfortable and wondering when the appointment would be done. the appointment took 3 hours.
since going to gloss for these two services, i have moved to vancouver, attended a beauty school and become a licensed esthetician. i now work at a spa downtown. if any of my clients have ever noted the the bedding is uncomfortable and request it to be adjusted, i always do it, even if it means untying 3 layers of sheets. i still to this day to not understand it was so hard for emily to act like she even valued me as a customer, and her attitude made me never want to come back.
i now have a self taught lash tech who does full lash (hybrid, wispy, etc.) sets for me in 1.5 hours total. 2 hours if we are taking our time chatting and taking breaks. 3 hours was ridiculously long and uncomfortable. the price points for the services offered are ridiculous, and it is unfortunate that there are no other options in terrace because there is no competitive pricing. most people often don’t have anything to compare the services to as there is not very many options in the area.
as a licensed esthetician, i would not recommend giving your time or money to gloss. for me, i definitely felt overcharged, not valued or appreciated as a customer, and like i wasted my time and money.
