We had breakfast a few days ago. Reception was good, including provision of menus and initial drinks (coffee and orange juice). Service was good, professional and friendly. The juice and coffee were good - the coffee was a flavourful medium roast. We had the regular two egg breakfast with sausage, and an order of stuffed French toast.

The meals were big. The service was great. We much recommend Hathaways in St. Albert for breakfast.

First time here and it wasn't busy. We were offered a booth not long after we walked in which was good. We sat for over 20 minutes, no offer of drinks, no menu watching the servers on their phones and finally decided to walk to the back and ask if we could be looked after. We got up then someone came to our table. We did order and our food did come fairly fast and it was good. Waffles were light and fluffy, milkshake really good and the beef dip was a very good sized portion. We weren't offered refills on our drinks which is always disappointing. It wasn't busy and phones definitely seemed to be more important than looking after paying customers. Not sure if I'll be back.

I did not like the deep dish plate for the burger. But the homemade patty was awesome. I suggest getting cheese on this burger i would have loved it more.

Tots. Crispy and great. I needed two ketchups myself. But seasoned with some parsley and salt crispy goodness.

Service is great

We visited Hathaway’s Diner in St. Albert for brunch, and it was a fantastic first visit!

The coffee was fresh and hot, constantly brewed to keep it that way. We ordered the Veggie Skillet and Chicken & Waffles, and both dishes were excellent. The Veggie Skillet was full of flavor, while the chicken was moist and perfectly cooked. We also added a soft poached egg to the Chicken & Waffles, and it was cooked to perfection. The waffles were fluffy, and the dish was served with maple syrup, balancing the flavors beautifully. Portions are generous, so bring your appetite!

Service was attentive and friendly. The staff checked in regularly, kept our coffee refilled, and ensured everything was to our liking. Our food arrived quickly and was cooked perfectly.

Hathaway’s is a cozy, well-maintained restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. We arrived shortly after opening, and the place was already filling up, which speaks to its popularity.

Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back—maybe to try their lunch menu next time. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a delicious, hearty brunch with excellent service!

If you’re looking for some real down home food this is the place! Best home fries (ask for flash fried), actually use real, fresh potatoes! Just amazing and our server Abby was fantastic!! Can’t wait to come back!!!!

Delicious 3 egg omelettes. The service by Jacquie was wonderful, and very personable. There is always room for desert, and you will be glad you tried a homemade pie. They are delicious. Even though the restaurant was busy, they provided a table for 4 so that our 2 Service Dogs had room to curl up out of the way. Sadie and Keira were so good, as always, they each received a pup pie. We will be back.

Hathaway's Diner in St. Albert is a great restaurant in a really pleasant part of the city. The quality of the food is excellent - I had a fantastic Beef Dip. It is also a great place for pies made by the owner's mother. Please see the pictures I took today. The service is tremendous and always a delight to have Jacquie as our server. Hathaway's Diner is our new destination location when we are in St. Albert!

I had a satisfactory experience at this diner and the well-balanced Strawberry cheesecake pie saved the day - definitely a must try. However, I was not a fan of the corned beef hash skillet for these reasons:
- potatoes were under seasoned and inconsistently cooked. It was mushy but some were a bit burn and bitter (I suggest getting tater tots if you want that crunchy and soft texture).
- the corner beef meat portions is a bit smaller than expected. Visually it actually looked like ham slices.
- the scrambled eggs were also on the overcooked side (I was not asked about my egg preference, maybe a runny yolk would elevate the dish).

Service wise, the team was polite and respectful but it seemed like communication between them could be better. I was confused on who was my server and I understand how busy a breakfast joint is, but it generally took 10-15 minutes just to take my order and I had to initiate it myself.

I still would come back and maybe order bennys since that's what they're known for. Overall, go here if you're not pressed for time and do not leave without trying one of their pies! 🍰😀
