My husband wanted to revisit Haliburton as his family lived in the area in the past. Hook Line is a nice looking spot with delicious food to match.

After a day of hiking we stopped in for late lunch/early dinner, as it caught our eye as drove by. Loved the decor, the canoe lights, great touch. I had the chicken sandwich, very crispy, but chicken itself was pretty thin, but it was good. My sister inlaw had the brisket sandwich, and it was the hit of the table, flavours went together very well. I had the drink of the month it was ok, but it needed something, asked the waitress for an ingredient and it make the cocktail pop

We were a group of 8 stopping in en route home from a motorcycle trip and were very happy that this place was able to seat us for lunch and get us in/out quickly before the rain started.

The waitress was lovely - friendly, witty and attentive. The restaurant is super clean, spacious and I just love that it was open like a garage door at the front with patio seating .. despite the expected rain. The washrooms were so adorable - little private fully enclosed booths - very nice indeed. Parking across the street can be a challenge but certainly ample space.

I ordered a lovely crispy chicken burger and onion tangles. LOVED IT. The onion tangles were a special treat - wee bit different than the standard onion ring. They were sweeter and very tasty and weren't greasy like the usual onion ring is, so that was a nice surprise. My husband loved his escargot and wings. Everyone at our table was impressed with their dish and the options of beer was also a big hit.

We were very disappointed after reading the good reviews on Google… and then we were told that this establishment had been sold a few years ago and now our experience makes sense. We were seated and had our menus open at 5:21 pm (my daughter took a picture for her social media). We didn’t receive any food until almost 6:30. When the food came we had to ask for cutlery and we were told we had to wait to get knives because they were in the dishwasher. We felt sorry for the wait staff- you could tell they were embarrassed. To add to this- management was not seen not walking around to check on tables.
When we finally got our food- let’s just say it was not good at all! The chippers and fries were the only good thing. The calamari was rushed and not done and the batter was soft and squishy. The battered fish had no taste, and the lobster sliders were definitely ‘off’ and tasted so funny that my daughter couldn’t eat them and stuck to her fries. My husbands burger was subpar and the bun looked like a cheap store bun that had been ripped apart. We had been looking forward to our dinner there but left dissatisfied- we are not complainers so we paid the bill and left. We will never go back again and after waiting a week we decided it was only right to let others know of our experience so that they have this in mind before they visit this place.

Our third year coming to this restaurant during our annual golf trip and it's fantastic! You can tell the place is popular in this area by the amount of walk-ins we noticed. Fantastic food, some good beers to sample and great service. If we lived closer we would frequent the place! Will be back again next year, thanks to the staff for their excellent service and attitudes! Nice to see people smiling and enjoying their work even when the place is packed!!!

I’m definitely a regular customer at Hook Line as I always have such a great experience and I love the food. A few weeks ago, I attended a private event at Hook Line and all I can say is WOW! The way the restaurant ran and operated such a large private event was outstanding. It honestly seemed like chaos from my end but all the staff (servers, kitchen, bartenders, etc.) were so well organized and attentive to all the different needs that night. If you are ever looking for a beautiful local restaurant to just go for a bite to eat, have a nice night out or host a private event, I would highly recommend Hook Line & Sinker!
