We had a great brunch here! The food was so delicious. We tried both the Hot Smoked Salmon Benny and the Crab Benny, and while both were tasty, the smoked salmon Benny was my personal favourite. It is definitely a top pick for brunch in the Westshore. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

We had a nice brunch/ lunch and had to wait a little bit to get a table on a Sunday afternoon. They take reservations for 8 and more only. We were just ready to sip our drinks from Rhino cafe when we received the reservation call. HOB has impressive art pieces on its walls. African bowl and Salmon benny were delicious and house made sauce hits the right spots. We received an attentive service as well.

Food is decent. Some unique takes on breakfast classics. However the service and the time it takes to get your food is abysmally slow. Took at least an hour and a half to get our food once we placed our orders and the food wasn’t really worth that length of wait. Also took a while to get seated despite being an order at the counter type of place. Perhaps they are seriously understaffed. They also said they could make a similar replacement dish as they were out of the banana bread French toast, only to come out with a pretty sad looking crepe with a couple raspberries on it. I would have preferred them to just say they were out of the dish. Overall, would not go back or recommend this place because the food quality didn’t warrant the amount of waiting involved.

Drove down from Nanaimo to visit after seeing the owner on “Cooking on the Coast”.
This is one of the best brunches I have ever eaten!
The kids loved the crepes, the millionaire shortbread (which tastes like a twix!) and the pineapple slice. Unreal!
The shakshuka and the African bowl are absolutely 2 of the best dishes on the island and made that whole drive so worth it!! 5 stars and beyond for sure! Will make this drive again and again!

Beautiful ambiance and seating! Excellent choices on the menu. Had the turmeric latte and it was the bomb dot com! I also ordered the yam benny which was amazing! Amazing sauces, thanks for serving a plate full of amazing flavours and keep it up! Our clean empty plates should be a good enough review 😆

These hippies can cook! Probably some of the best brunch I've ever had. Everything is fresh and bursting with flavor. I did not leave disappointed or dissatisfied. They make their own hot sauce in house which is sweet and fruity. Definitely a winner and will be coming back next time I visit the island.
