I’ve been going to Lux Skin Lab for sometime now, and can honestly say they are the absolute best!!! I could give this place ten stars if I could… I’ve seen Rea a few times now and she’s amazing.. so thorough and precise, always gives the best product recommendations for my skin that actually work. The clinic is stunning and the staff at the front desk are very lovely and welcoming. Oh! they also have some of the best monthly promotions for treatments that I’ve seen.

Gabriela at Lux Skin Lab Brentwood is truly outstanding. She takes the time to listen carefully to your concerns, answer your questions with care, and tailor each treatment to suit your skin’s unique needs. Her skill, knowledge, and attention to detail are evident in everything she does. Before I knew about Lux skin labs I went to another clinic that totally ruined my face, it was horrible. After my face healed back up I booked an appointment and met with Gabriela. Being that I have thin skin, naturally uneven cheeks, and I’m extremely particular, it was a tough task but she had no problem achieving the results exactly as I envisioned. If you’re as difficult as I am and looking for a top-tier injector, Gabriela is the one to see.

A Cautionary Tale: My Experience with Lux Lab

My initial visit to Lux Lab began with promise, but unfortunately ended in disappointment, distress, and physical harm. What was supposed to be a simple cosmetic procedure to address a small facial spot turned into a deeply painful experience—both emotionally and physically.

At the core of my concern is the lack of professionalism and genuine care I received throughout the process. Rather than offering a personalized consultation, the staff seemed primarily focused on selling products. I was offered a package of four skincare products without any assessment of my skin type—despite it being highly sensitive—or an evaluation of my daily routine. No proper explanation of potential side effects was given. Had I been informed of the risks, I never would have agreed to the treatment.

After the purchase, I was sent home with an incomplete skincare routine. I had to follow up multiple times by email just to clarify basic instructions—yet even then, they couldn’t seem to confirm which routine they had given me. When my skin reacted severely to the products, I returned to the clinic in pain and confusion. Rather than providing support, the staff deflected responsibility and blamed me for supposedly not following their guidance. Fortunately, I had documented my routine and use of the products thoroughly, allowing me to prove that I had, in fact, followed their instructions precisely.

A follow-up appointment with the doctor left me feeling even more disheartened. She neither assessed the condition of my skin nor adjusted the treatment plan. Instead, she dismissed my concerns, told me to stop using two of the four products, and stated that the remaining routine would only be “70–80% effective.” Her tone was condescending and dismissive, leaving me feeling intimidated rather than supported.

Shockingly, the doctor even showed me photos of a man whose skin had been visibly damaged by the same products but had supposedly achieved excellent results after enduring weeks of pain. Her message was clear: endure the suffering and trust the process—regardless of how unsuitable it might be for my skin. “No pain, no gain,” she said. That was her advice.

Nearly three weeks after discontinuing the products, my skin is still recovering. I’ve been left emotionally drained, fearful of social situations, and extremely disappointed in an industry that should prioritize client well-being. Experiences like this only reinforce the negative stereotypes often associated with the beauty industry: profit-driven approaches that overshadow thoughtful, ethical care.

To those considering treatment at Lux Lab, I urge you to do your research. Ask questions, demand proper assessments, and don’t be afraid to advocate for your skin’s health. My hope is that others can avoid the pain I endured—and that real professionals, who place the patient at the center of their work, are the ones who ultimately define this industry.

Regardless of how the reaction is categorized medically, the impact it had on my well-being and daily life was very real, and it should have been taken more seriously. At no point was I asked about my current skincare routine, my history of reactions, or given a thorough skin evaluation. The products were sold to me as a one-size-fits-all solution, with limited explanation of potential side effects or risks, especially given my sensitive skin type. The refund I requested was not a demand for financial compensation, but a reflection of how truly damaging and unsuitable this experience was for me—and of how unheard I felt during and after the process. I do not question that your clinic has helped many individuals, but a track record of success with others does not negate a negative or harmful experience with one individual. I hope my review is taken not as an attack, but as an opportunity to reflect on how protocols are presented and how concerns—especially from first-time clients—are addressed with more empathy, flexibility, and genuine care.

From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re welcomed with such genuine warmth and kindness—it’s truly a special experience. I’ve now seen Dr. Jolene le Roux three times, and I cannot express enough gratitude for her talent, knowledge, and compassionate care.

After a less-than-ideal filler experience elsewhere, I was nervous, but Dr. Jolene has completely changed that for me. She has a way of making you feel calm, safe, and completely at ease, and I always leave thrilled with my new lips! Her skill as a physician is incredible, but beyond that, she is one of the most sweetest and caring souls.
