We recently had lunch at Mikado, and it was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly and always smiling.

We started with Takoyaki and shrimp tempura—both were perfectly crispy and full of flavor. For the main course, we had Chicken Udon and Nabeyaki Udon, and wow—those thick, chewy noodles were absolutely delicious! The portions are huge, so come hungry.

To top it all off, we shared the coconut tempura ice cream, and it was the perfect ending—crispy on the outside, creamy inside, and big enough for two. Highly recommend this spot for amazing Japanese food!

I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for more than ten years. I ordered King Lobster Roll at noon on December 29th, which cost $40. When I ate it, I found that it was not the same quality as before or even two weeks ago. The lobster meat was only half of what it used to be. One of the slices did not have lobster in it, but only cucumber and avocado as thick as a little finger, and fried dough to fill the gap. The lobster shell was very crispy and broke with a light squeeze of the hand. It was a very bad dining experience. I will not patronize this restaurant again。

My friends took me here for dinner on my trip to Edmonton. I was craving sushi, and so they said it was one of the best in town near us. They were right.

The restaurant is conveniently located in a shopping area with plenty of parking. We were greeted when we entered and quickly ushered to our seats. We sat in a booth, but the place had lots of great seating. There is a sushi bar and separate tatami private rooms for a more authentic experience.

The service and food were great. The servings were generous, and the prices were extremely reasonable. I had the chirashi bowl while my friends got the bento box. The chirashi had very good fresh fish considering we are nowhere near the water. The bento boxes came with soup, salad, and lots of varieties of Japanese side dishes along with the main.

Overall, for 5 of us, the bill came to about $130 USD, including tip. This included a few drinks as well! If you are looking for a great Japanese spot in Edmonton make sure to check out Mikado.

absolute 10/10 experience.
boyfriend and i came for date night - we don’t go out very often to fancier restaurants so this was the perfect place to level up a bit.
we were told upon entry that it might be longer wait due to a back up in the kitchen which is never ever an issue with us. we never ended up waiting for our meal, it all came within 20 minutes.
food itself was delicious. the dragon eye roll and the mango tango are my favourites from this experience.
my boyfriend tried the bluefin tuna the o’haro cut and loved it. we got the rose roll with blue fin, the godzilla roll and shrimp tempura as well

Ted (or Tod i’m so so sorry i couldn’t catch your name tag!) was phenomenal.

We had a pleasurable experience dining at Mikado. Their bluefin dish is a must-try. Bento box was average and meat was prepared too sweet for my tastebud. Service was pleasant. Servers were courteous and helpful. Parking was very spacious.

Staff are very accommodating, place is clean, and their food is amazing. One of the best foods on their menu are the chicken kara-age, barbeque squid, and grilled salmon collar. They'll also give out a free ice cream for anyone celebrating their birthday at their restaurant. Ours had a sparkler when they delivered it so that was even more thoughtful.
