We have purchased 2 custom saunas from Kevin at Monashee Saunas so we thought we should share our experience. The first sauna was done in 2020 for our home in Kelowna. It is a freestanding interior sauna. The second sauna was done just this past year for our condo at Big White. It is a built-in sauna. Between the 1st and 2nd saunas, we noticed that Kevin had received a couple of bad reviews. This gave us pause, but we decided to go ahead with him for our second purchase because 1. He came through with our first sauna, which still looks great after 4 years and 2. Superior fit and finish. For us what sets Monashee Saunas apart is the attention to detail - the corner trim, the floating moveable lower bench, the use of true clear western red cedar for the interiors and the custom fittings to cover the electrical. Moreover, Kevin is responsive throughout including for after sales service. With both purchases, delivery took a bit longer than expected, but if you can be patient, Kevin and his team make great saunas at a reasonable price.

As you can see, based on my other reviews, I’m not one to leave 1 star reviews. I typically reserve my reviews for businesses I genuinely love and want to endorse, however I believe potential customers deserve to be aware of possible challenges with this company. Despite my reluctance to leave a negative review, I am compelled to share the challenges I encountered during my purchase process with the Kevin the owner of Monashee.

My experience with Kevin began in October of 2021 when my husband and I decided to purchase a sauna from him. Unfortunately, what followed was a series of setbacks, unfulfilled promises, and quality issues that left us feeling disappointed and frustrated.

Despite initial assurances of a 12-14 week delivery timeframe, my sauna was delayed multiple times without sufficient explanation. Communication from Kevin was lacking, and it became increasingly difficult to obtain updates on the status of my order. Even after expressing my concerns and requesting a refund of my deposit, I faced resistance. After enduring a wait of over 6 months, Kevin finally delivered the sauna. However, upon inspection, I found multiple areas where the cedar was damage. Along with that, the floor began peeling up within a week of use. In addition to these issues, there were discrepancies between the promised and delivered components. Despite paying for western red cedar floor mats, a western red cedar heater guard, and a custom western red cedar x. None of these items were made from cedar as per our contract. Furthermore, my dissatisfaction escalated when I discovered that the specific sauna heater I had specifically selected from Kevin was substituted without my consent. Despite Kevin assuring me with a picture that the heater had arrived, upon delivery, I was shocked to find a completely different model. It was later revealed that my chosen heater had been given to another customer, highlighting a severe lack of professionalism and accountability on Kevin's part.

Despite these glaring issues, Kevin's behavior towards his hardworking crew was equally concerning. I commend Kevin's crew, who were wonderful, kind, and hardworking throughout the process. Despite their dedication, Kevin's behavior towards them was unacceptable. He was constantly yelling at them, rude, and disrespectful.

Lastly, despite Kevin agreeing in writing to refund us $2000 as a late penalty within 2 weeks, We are still awaiting this refund, further exemplifying his failure to honour agreements and commitments.

For those considering purchasing a sauna, I encourage you to also check the Better Business Bureau as there are currently three complaints on that accredited association.

While my experience with Kevin may have been less than ideal, I remain hopeful that he will take steps to address the issues raised and improve the customer experience in the future.

Kevin and his team make amazing amazing saunas! They came down to my place in here town, delivered and installed it at my home and made sure everything was carefully constructed and well put together. The design is superior to most other sauna products I have seen out there and the interior is simply gorgeous. The detailed craftsmanship and business owners pride of creating something above average here is evident and I thank him and his crew for making sure I was super happy with it. This sauna is fantastic, heats very quickly and I look forward to years of enjoyment. Thanks again Kevin!

We recently had Kevin and his team at Monashee Saunas install a custom-made sauna. Located in rural British Columbia, we had specific space demands and also wanted a sauna constructed to high standards in order to perform without any problems. Kevin and team built and installed a sauna that went beyond our expectations, with obvious attention to detail and using extremely high quality materials. Could not be happier with the result and highly recommend them to anyone considering a sauna

Monashee saunas has multiple complaints against them on the better business bureau. Do not send them any money, he still owes mutiple customers money from previous jobs mess ups.

We purchased a sauna from Kevin in October of 2021. He said it would take 12-14 weeks for delivery. After a tone of phone calls and follow up Kevin had lots of excuses to why is wasn’t done yet and continually said it would be done in a few weeks. After multiple deadlines were missed I asked for my deposit back and he refused to do so. Finally after over 6 months he finally delivered my sauna. Kevin agreed in writing to refund us $2000 as a late penalty within 2 weeks, I’m still waiting. Our sauna showed up with multiple places where there was damage to the cedar, the floor was peeling up within a week, in the contract I had paid for western red cedar floor mats, western red cedar heater guard and custom western red Cedar Valances (Value $1,000.00) all of which showed up not as cedar. I had ordered a very specific sauna heater from kevin, he had taken a picture to show me that it had shown up. However when he showed up with my sauna he had a completely different heater and apparently gave my heater to a different customer. After all this and finally using the sauna I noticed steam was pouring out the sides and getting into the wall with the electrical controls. Their was no vapour barrier between the ceiling and the walls and so moisture was getting into the walls causing the lights to stop working and who knows what other damaged to occur.

Now Kevin is saying he’s filed for bankruptcy and will not be sending the money he owes us.
