In the past we’ve had a good experience with the food here, only occasional and minor hiccups. However, two weeks ago a large group of us ordered take out and we were shocked when my 8 year old brought me his chicken ball to find that it had a staple baked into the batter! Thankfully he had only bitten into half of it and decided he didn’t like it. We called to let them know, the employee who answered seemed rather unbothered by this and just tried to explain how the staple could’ve ended up where it did and eventually offered a complimentary order of chicken balls. My husband ended up going in and speaking with a manager or owner to ensure that the right people were made aware. They did apologize and provided a refund. Unfortunately I can’t imagine ordering from here again, this was just far too unacceptable for a business that should be practicing proper food safety practices.

Called for dinner for 4, given 2 options A or B. When listing items in B it included shrimp. Clerk was told 1 person was allergic to shrimp so not possible. So A was chosen but Clerk did NOT tell us that the special chop suey in this package ALSO CONTAINS SHRIMP!!! We are from out of town so had no idea. Called to complain when we discovered it but Clerk denied instead of apologizing.
This could have cost my partner a trip to the emergency room or worse.
Otherwise, the food was decent but of course, will never return.
Mistakes happen but people should own them and make it right.

*Edit* In the time since I originally posted this review, I have noticed a significant improvement on the wait times. Like any good food, it still requires time to be prepared, but lately it is always ready when they say it will be. Plus, the food is still amazing! One of my favourite restaurants.

Let me start on the positive and say that the food here is amazing. The best restaurant in High River, food wise. The service is friendly, but unfortunately so very slow and unreliable. When I order pick up and am told 30 minutes (for example) I will get there and wait an additional 15 minutes. This happens every time. Tonight, I was told 1 hour 15 for p/u or 1 hour and 30 for delivery. It was my choice to wait that long, and knowing they are usually 15 minutes late, I still ordered. I called at an hour 40 and they were just starting my food and hoped the driver would be back by the time it was finished. I waited over 2 hours. So, if you want amazing food order from here, but make sure you don't have anywhere to be and snacks while waiting.

Im giving a bad review because, paid 71.00 dollars for a dinner for four, got two wonton soup containers half full and told that it was enough for four people. When golden national was owned by judy you got your moneys worth of food, four containers of wonton soup and would leave with at least six side dishes. This new golden national is a disappointing joke and not worth the cost. If you can go somewhere else for your chinese food craving i highly suggest it.

This was the best Chinese food I have had in Alberta. Fresh, homemade and delicious. Huge portions and very reasonable price!
The restaurant was extremely clean and the server was lovely and attentive. Highly recommend!
