Formerly the Town Hall, this is now a heritage museum about the town of Glacé Bay. The docent are very friendly and knowledgeable. They served tea and biscuits (crackers and oat cakes - I think that's what they were called). There is an exhibit upstairs about Guglielmo Marconi (the person we can thank for all our wireless devices).

They opened just for us because we came on a cruise excursion on a Sunday in winter (early April). It was interesting to go through the rooms and see all the thousands of displayed objects, and hear about how life was for the miners so many years ago. We could ask questions of the local guides in the room too. Very well done!

A big thank you to Wayne, Elke, Ray and Lois for today. We were visiting Sydney on a cruise stop and considering my late grandfather was born in Glace Bay I got in touch with this wonderful organisation who opened up on their normal day off (and holiday) to share with us the museum, some history and an amazing dose of Canadian hospitality. Thank you ever so much for today, you have no idea how much it meant to us to have been able to visit. If you are ever in Scotland please do not hesitate to email me and my dad and I will be sure to show you the same hospitality you showed us today. Emma and Alan

I'm not a museum person so I can't really speak to the museum. I was here with a tour group and they provided us with hot tea, fresh lemonade, and oat cakes. The employees/volunteers were enthusiastic about their project and their town and the oat cakes and tea were delicious. When I travel I really enjoy conversing with locals who have a real love for where they live.

Does not open every day except summer. Make sure you checked the hour before going. It was not open when we arrived. The building looks nice from the outside, but didn't get the chance to see what's in the museum.

Our family of 7 (4 children + grandma) stopped in at this great spot after a conversation with a local down by the wharf. Wonderful exhibits about local area; lovely knowledgeable guide, & such hospitality - lemonade & oak cakes in the old Court room along with fun stories about historically significant locals! Thank-you for a wonderful time
