This is our fave choice in the JPL. It is more intimate, quieter and a varied menu. We had a couple of full breakfasts here there were fantastic...the egg sandwich fantastic...loved their home potatoes...servers always polite and friendly. One evening we had dinner here with a nice bottle of wine (extensive wine list). Our waiter was very professional and knowledgeable about every thing on the menu. We shared a fondant and it was the most rich and amazing dish we have ever had...!! My shrimp pasta was perfect and my husband enjoyed the carbonara...he said it had the perfect balance of creaminess and taste....This restaurant is only open weekends for dinner but well worth the wait.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at Orso. Our server Emily made it even better! We tried all the appetizers and they were all incredibly delicious. We were celebrating a late birthday and she brought me a beautiful birthday dessert and ice wine.
Our three course dinner started with an amuse-bouche that brought tears to my eyes. I could’ve eaten 40 of them.

I am now worried I’ll never eat food as good as I did there!

The appetizers seared scallops & radicchio, orange & fennel salad were delicious. The grilled halibut fish & various vegetables and the bison steak with potato fingerlings & broccolini were amazing tasty. The yummy dessert hazelnut panache with milk chocolate, crumble and hazelnuts. The manager, chefs & waiters were very educated of cuisine and wines. Excellent customer service. We’ll be back!

Our evening at Orso Trattoria was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to the impeccable service and delectable dishes that left our taste buds singing.

From the moment we stepped in, (Thank you to Jessica) the warm ambiance set the stage for an authentic Italian dining experience. Konnor, our server, truly elevated our evening. His knowledge of the menu, attentive service, and friendly demeanor made the meal a standout.

The star of the evening was undoubtedly the lamb ribs. Cooked to perfection, each bite was a burst of savory goodness. The flavors were rich and nuanced, a true testament to the chef's expertise in crafting traditional Italian dishes.

The drink selection at Orso Trattoria was equally impressive. Each sip was a delightful journey of taste, with a variety of well-crafted cocktails that complemented our meal perfectly.

The food was wonderful, but the service was poor. The server seemed like he was too shy or just uninterested? Every interaction was painfully awkward.

For our meal we opted for a 3-course with an added pasta course. I believe the menu changes, but my options were the prosciutto and pear starter, a pasta filled with ricotta and a lemon sauce, a bison tenderloin, and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was well seasoned and flavourful apart from the bison, which was pretty basic. The food took an extremely long time between courses that the kitchen sent out the pasta and the main at the same time. Would have been nice to have them spaced out in the regular course progression.

My husband had two drinks and I had a cocktail and some coffee at the end with dessert. Was about ~$150 each. Overall, I’d maybe recommend this as an easy place to eat at the hotel if you’ve been traveling all day as we were and wanted a good meal, but I don’t think we’d go again. I’d rather try another offering in the area.

This was definitely fine dining and we loved the experience. The menu encourages you to order their three course menu. But one person can order the three course and another one can order a side dish if not too hungry. Ask for a table by the window to get the lake views. They do have outdoor dining on the patio but it looks and feels more casual. Our host John was awesome, and got us a great table. Erica was our server and she was amazing. She even brought us dessert and glasses of champagne to celebrate our special occasion. Recommend reservations. It’s located inside the fairmont jasper park lodge. They are really good with making adjustments for gluten allergies. And the food was awesome! Lots of gluten free options and they are great with substitutions.

We had an excellent experience in this place. We opted for the three course menu and selected our dishes. From the first to the third course, everything was perfect. The food tasted excellent, although some may complain about the quantity. But that is what you expect for this type of three/five course dinners. There was no rush and each course came at the right moments.

Located at the incredibly beautiful Jasper Park Lodge, Orso is an amazing setting for a splurge meal. Choice of 3, 4 or 5 course dinners, or you can order a la carte. We opted to order a la carte, getting pastas. Pastas were delicious, as were the pre dinner cocktails and vino. Amazing wine selection. Service was fantastic, although my one beef with the entire experience was the rushed entrees while we had barely started enjoying our cocktails. A generous tiramisu finished our meal.
