I've been staying at the Pacific Rim Guest Lodge for over 15 years. I go every year and simply won't stay anywhere else. I've been a hotel consultant for over 27 years (I know a thing or two about hotels) and this place offers a good quality and clean hotel experience (can't say that about many other hotels in Ucluelet). It's not a typical hotel, so if you're looking for a bellman to help you with your luggage and full turn down service, this isn't the place for you (try the Black Rock Resort instead). If you don't mind being off the beaten path just a little bit, it's a great place to stay. Like I said, I won't stay anywhere else!

Clean room but not very private or quiet. I could hear conversations and footsteps upstairs as if I was sharing the room with others. Rickety old hotel with no insulation.
For the price it’s not worth it. No view, nothing walkable, dead end street next to a field.
The worst was when the alarm went off at 3am. It was the loudest alarm I have ever heard. They claimed someone was cooking from their own cooktop and was evicted because of it but would not give a discount. I have never in my life been woken up at a hotel like that. Will not return and would not recommend.

Spacious, clean, and cozy rooms. we're so glad we found this place on our first visit to the Pacific Northwest. For the price, it's a huge step up from most of the commercial hotels and motels around here. Communication was excellent, and we even got an early check-in, which was such a bonus.
Glad we found it, highly recommend!"

When I arrived I was greeted by I think the Owner!!
For some strange reason my CC card was declined on booking, and on my travels there the owner tried contacting me a few times but heading up that way you lose cell service for a bit.
I arrived and was greeted and dealt with the problem ASAP. Was super easy to fix! He brought us right to our room, and showed us around and was honestly very friendly , out going, and told us a few places to go eat, and the VIEW from the Black Rock Resort Restaurant is to die for!! What an amazing recommendation!
I'd stay here again, the rooms were clean, they had a huge massive bathtub where two of you can easily relax!

The place itself was easy to find, its not very accessible if you aren't able bodied however. Many many stairs.
The room was very nice but very warm and there were no fans or AC.
Additionally our room windows were right in front of the tub which was right where people come up the stairs. So if you were trying to enjoy the "view" in the tub you will be face to face with anyone coming up to their room.
The tub didnt have enough hot water to fill the tub so we ended up sitting only to barely our waist in luke warm water which was pretty disappointing. Also no ice.
Otherwise was nice, They had glasses and a bottle opener which was thoughtful.

Snob Warning: Please continue reading if you might expect more from a room that cost $452 CA. per night. The Pacific Rim Lodge (not to be confused with the Pacific Rim Motel), is a monolithic box of a hotel in an industrial park constructed by the owner who greeted us upon our arrival and showed us to our room. This personal touch is largely absent from tourism these days, and I appreciated it as do other reviewers. We apparently lucked into one of the primo rooms on the 3rd floor, with a stunning view of....wait for it....a baseball field. Although the owner proclaimed that resorts with seaside views would cost more than double the rates he charges (and he said he should raise his rates but wants to be fair to people) we found lodges such as the Terrace Beach Resort to be only $100 more per night with much nicer accommodations. The rooms have huge hot tubs in them and perhaps the most kitschy decor I've ever seen. This is the kind of room that might make Granny Edna from Saskatoon swoon with joy, but for more urbane travelers, the tackiness is ever present. Even the exterior deck rails are wrapped in plastic ivy, and all the plants are fake. As other reviewers noted, the sound proofing is non-existent, and we were treated to the muffled conversation of the occupants next door both late at night and at sunrise. Pacific Rim Lodge is the Applebee's of hotels, aimed at the North American traveler who revels in mediocrity

I had a wonderful stay here as my first time in Ucluelet.

Upon arrival there was some confusion about my booking however Glenn made sure to accommodate and clear up any misunderstanding regarding my stay. I ended up with a beautiful room and it was extremely comfortable and cozy. Will definitely book again if I’m visiting. 🙂
