I am not usually one to write reviews but with this location reopening, I had to share my feedback. I asked for a bagel with cream cheese & butter and this is what I received. After leaving, I went BACK to ask for more cream cheese and this was the “more cream cheese” given to me. The shop was very dark, not many lights on to give it a warm & welcoming ambiance. A bit disappointed to learn that the owners were also present while this occurred and didn’t really seem to care. We were very excited to see that this location was reopening but to be honest, we won’t be back. I think they rushed the opening and sadly did not execute.

I don’t normally give negative reviews…and I am hoping that with more training that the food and coordination of service improves. I was once a regular at the original Planet Bean.
I ordered breakfast and some baking. I only ate the two small pieces of bacon (which were tasty), the very dry, small serving of flavourless, cold “scrambled eggs” and I could not eat any of the $4.00 cold, hard, unseasoned potato wedges. There was no salt or pepper visible…I was too tired to get up and ask..after 3 trips to the till and counter just to get our order and pay the bill. The baking was overrated as local and high quality ingredients…at $5.00 per small muffin..and a lemon square with a rock hard bottom crust…another $5.00. When I needed sugar and cream for tea and coffee…they had run out…and did not know where there as sugar …I spotted a bowl of sugar on their inside counter…and then I used it ….The tea and coffee were good, once we found the cream and sugar!!
Overall it as a disappointing experience. At the till, the cashier and the “cook” were not able to clarify the bill…it took a full 5 min. to get to an agreement.
I would recommend that they get an experienced manager and cook to train the staff. Without this, I fear their food options may put people off. I really hope this place will improve…so that I can enjoy being a regular customer.

Nicely renovated space with beautiful natural light in a historic building. The Planet Bean coffee brand has been a mainstay in Guelph for years. Love supporting local heroes!

I’ve been to this Planet Bean a few times now and have not been disappointed once. The staff are knowledgeable and efficient, the food and drinks are tasty, and the prices are very reasonable. The dark chocolate oat milk hot chocolate and carrot cake are two of my favourites. (The “latte” art on my hot chocolate in the photos was much better before I jostled the cup.)

This place surprised me! I assumed that their desserts were going to be the usual unimpressive coffee chain desserts. I was wrong. Wow, their almond cookie was amazing! Don't miss this one! This place was hopping with customers. They have fair trade and organic products. They encourage eco-friendliness.

Vegan/Gluten Free: They have desserts for you!

Non coffee drinkers: They have a raspberry hot chocolate and hot apple cider!

Bakery items: They source their bakery items either exclusively or mostly from two bakeries.

Noise level: It isn't super quiet, and it isn't loud.

Dining options: Indoor or takeout.

The staff at the till wasn’t very interested in serving us. They ran out of coffee at a coffee shop, when we asked what the baked desserts were, she said she doesn’t know. Not good service, will not go back.

So glad Planet Bean is open again! But when I walked in the vibe is a little stark? Grey and white walls? No plants? Hoping to see some life injected into this local institution. The addition of a breakfast and lunch side kitchen is smart with the train station and City Hall nearby. I had the ciabatta breakfast bun - good! Could use tomato and lettuce though. Hoping for good things from Planet Bean!

A great spot for coffee—bright and cheerful atmosphere. The iced coffee was amazing, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a bit costly, but overall a nice experience.
