During our wine tour, we had the pleasure of enjoying lunch and a tasting at Planters Ridge, and it was a great experience! The staff was wonderful and attentive, making us feel very welcome.

The food was incredibly fresh and flavorful, which made for a delightful meal. It was the perfect spot to unwind and relax on a wet, cold November day.

We did 2 flights as they had a little bit of everything here: white, red, cider, mead and port. The lovey host maybe new, but was very sweet and knew enough about the wine to keep the conversation going.

We came at the beginning of the season, so had the place to ourselves and was able to talk about the place a little more than usual. A great representation of the region in the glass. We ended with the rummed cider and sparkly rose in the cans. Love the can formats for sparkling wine so you don’t feel like you need to pop a whole bottle when you want just a glass.

They also can ship across the country, except PEI, so you don’t have to lug it all the way home! Love NS wines, BC really should take note.

I was introduced to the Quintessence White at a local restaurant. I was quite surprised and pleased. This is a white blend of Nova Scotia grapes- NY Muscat, Frontenac Blanc and L’Acadie.
The “official” tasting description is, “perfumed with floral aromas and hints of culinary sage. The palate is refreshing with notes of lychee and a juicy finish.”

Today we decided to go for a drive up to Wolfville and get ourselves some local wine.

And SURPRISE, SURPRISE! They make a very pleasant “Port-style” wine. I was impressed. The tasting notes read, “This fortified red wine is crafted from 100% Lucie Kuhlmann. The fermentation was stopped with our house made grappa, resulting in a sweet and spirited Port-style wine. Aged for 12 months in French oak.

Intense aromas of raisin, fig and plum. The palate is smooth, sweet and decadent, with notes of cherry, buttercream frosting and chocolate, reminiscent of black forest cake.”

Wendy greeted us and helped us with our wine sampling. She was so friendly and very knowledgeable! They have hair facility in a beautifully renovated 160 year old barn that has a patio addition that over looks one of their vineyards. It’s absolutely breath taking. We had the white and red sampling. We had a few favourites but all the wines were excellent. We also sampled a rummed cider that was delicious.

Stopped at this beautiful winery after a trip to Blomindon Provincial Park. A beautiful old bar reconfigured to a winery with a great patio outside as well as seats inside. We each had a glass of wine … I tried and thoroughly enjoyed the L’Acadie. In fact I purchased a case to take home. Although we didn’t have anything to eat, their menu looked great.

Phenomenal venue for a wedding! From the first stages of planning, Joanne (Planters Ridges’ day of coordinator) was absolutely fantastic! She offered us suggestions for vendors, helped us coordinate with vendors, and made the stressful experience of organizing a wedding seamless! We showed up with our decorations the day before, and Joanne and her team had the place beautifully decorated for the wedding! They also provided the tear down and had all our decorations neatly packed and ready the day after for pick up. Can’t thank her enough for all of her help! On top of that, the venue is beautiful! We even had access to the cellar room for photos! 10/10 would recommend to anyone else!
